Threaded Drum: Brake drum resurfaced on a lathe too quickly, resulting in a friction surface similar to that of a
scored drum.

Turned Drum: A brake drum that has been resurfaced on a lathe to remove scoring or other defects.

XEM: Xtra Easy Maintenance, Fruehauf’s term for brake design with an open anchor pin rib. This shoe will not
interchange with Rockwell Q and Bendix FC shoes.
XtraLife: Bendix’ term for a quick-change design brake shoe using thicker than standard lining. Available in both
the original XtraLife design, and the new XtraLife II version.
