Group 59 Anti-Lock Brake System (Bendix) Service Procedures

Disconnect the sensor from the vehi-
cle wiring at the connector closest to
the sensor.

Pull the sensor cable through the hole
in the frame rail.
Installation

Note: Spring clip must be installed
with the ange stops facing the in-
board side of the vehicle.
Push the sensor spring clip all the way
into the mounting block.

Insert the sensor cable through the
hole in the spindle and spider assem-
bly. Pull the cable until the sensor is at
the hole. Route the remaining cable
and connector through the frame rail.

CAUTION
Potential sensor damage. DO NOT us a screwdriver
or sharp instrument to insert sensor. Use of a sharp
instrument could cause sensor damage.
Using the sensor tool press the sensor
into the spring clip and mounting
block. Press the sensor toward the
wheel hub until the sensor contacts
the tooth wheel.

Connect the sensor cable to the chas-
sis harness. Secure the connection
with a cable tie.

Fasten the sensor cable to the brake
chamber hose using a cable tie. Install
additional ties as necessary to hold
sensor cable in place.

Install the brake drum.

Adjust the brakes.

Install the wheel and tighten the wheel
nuts.

Remove the jack stand(s) from under
the vehicle.

Lower the vehicle and remove the
wheel blocks.

Verify proper sensor adjustment by
driving the vehicle. This allows the
ABS to perform an additional self test
(see ABS Self Tests page 22). Once
the vehicle reaches approximately 11
km/h (7 mph), the ABS warning lamp
will go out if the sensor is properly ad-
justed.
