10.12 Cable Continuity Test
The cable continuity test is intended for measuring the line resistance of connecting and extension ca-
bles as well as of cable reels. For measurement and evaluation, all wires / single conductors, e.g. L, N
and PE, are connected in series! The insulating resistance measurement between all conductors must
becarriedoutseparately(see"Measuringtheinsulating resistance")!Inthestartmenu,selectthe
correspondingVDEregulationandthentheprotectionclass.Inthe"Testacc.toVDE....(Class.)"menu,
selection menu, press the <Cable> (continuity test) button.
Then, press the <Limit Values> button. Enter the parameters line length, cross-section and con-
ductor quantity under <Limiting Values Setup> / <Cable Data>.
Save your entry and press <Back>. Start measurement by pressing <Start>.
Finish or stop the measurement by pressing <Stop>, press <Pause>/ <Next> for a measuring
pause and press <Reset> to delete the measured value. Besides the measuring result (measured
value),theoverallresultisdisplayed(e.g."Pass"byagreeneldand"Fail"byaredeld).

Beendigung oder Abbruch der Messung durch Taste „Stopp“, Messpause
durch Taste <Pause>/ <Weiter>, Löschen des Messwertes durch Taste
„Reset“. Neben dem Messergebnis (Messwert) wird das Gesamtergebnis
z.B. „Gut“ durch ein grün hinterlegtes Feld und „Schlecht“ durch rot
hinterlegtes Feld angezeigt.

Es wird die Übereinstimmung mit den Vorgaben der Bemessungs-
spannung (25 V gegen Erde) von Geräten mit SELV/ PELV Spannungen
überprüft.
Es kann nur eine Sondenmessung durchgeführt werden! Der Isolations-
widerstand zwischen Primär- und Sekundärseite bzw. aktiven Teilen von
Geräten mit SELV/ PELV Spannungen muss separat durchgeführt werden
(siehe Messung Isolationswiderstand). Im Startmenü/ Eröffnungsmenü die
entsprechende VDE-Vorschrift und danach die Schutzklasse wählen. Im
Menü „Prüfung nach VDE .... (SK .)“, Auswahlmenü die Taste <Ua>
(Schutzkleinspannung) betätigen.
Messbeginn durch Betätigen der Taste <Start>. Mit der Sonde ist die PELV/
SELV Spannung abzutasten.
Beendigung oder Abbruch der Messung durch Taste <Stopp>, Messpause
durch Taste <Pause>/<Weiter>, Löschen des Messwertes Taste <Reset>.
Neben dem Messergebnis
(Messwert) wird das
Gesamtergebnis z.B. „Gut“ durch
ein grün hinterlegtes Feld und
„Schlecht“ durch rot hinterlegtes
Feld angezeigt.

10.13 Ua – Safety Extra-low Voltage
Themeasurementisintendedformeasuringthecompliancewiththespecicationsregardingthe
rated voltage (25 V to earth) of devices with SELV / PELV voltages.
Only one probe measurement can be carried out! The insulating resistance between primary and
secondary side or active parts of devices with SELV/ PELV voltages has to be measured separately
(see"Measuringthe insulating resistance").Inthestartmenu,selectthecorrespondingVDEreg-
ulationandthentheprotectionclass.Inthe"Testacc.toVDE....(Class.)"menu,selectionmenu,
press the <Ua> (safety extra-low voltage) button.

Measurement of the safety extra-low voltage is only possible for potential-
free sources. Any (inappropriate) measurement on sources which are mains-
connected and not potential-free might involve short-circuits!
Start measurement by pressing <Start>. Scan the PELV / SELV voltage by means of the probe.
Finish or stop the measurement by pressing <Stop>, press <Pause>/ <Next> for a measuring
pause and press <Reset> to delete the measured value.
