Insolation
1. Switch the device ON and place it onto the surface of the photovol-
taic module.
2. The insolation is displayed in the unit W/m² or BTU/hr/ft².
Angle of inclination
1. Press the

key for angle of inclination / compass bearing.
2. The angle of inclination with respect to the horizontal is indicated
on the LC display.
Null balance of the angle of inclination
1. Place the device onto a plane surface.
2. Press the

key for > 5 seconds until the "Z" symbol starts
flashing on the LC display.
3. Press the
4
key again to store the "+SET" value.
4. Turn the device by 180° and press the
4
key again to store the
"-SET" value. The angle of inclination has been balanced to null.
The "Z" symbol is shown on the LC display.
5. Press the
4
key again for > 5 seconds to exit the setting. The
"Z" symbol disappears from the LC display.
Compass bearing
1. Press the
4
key for angle of inclination / compass bearing.
2. To determine the cardinal direction, hold the device horizontally. As
soon as the angle of inclination exceeds +/- 20°, "- - -" appears on
the LC display and it is not possible to take a bearing.
3. Hold the marking

on the top of the device in the direction which
you would like to determine. The direction is displayed in degrees:
0° = North, 90° = West, 180° = South, 270° = East
4. Please observe that metallic objects or live conductors might affect
the measuring accuracy of the device.

1. Switch the device ON and place it onto the surface of the photo-

2. The insolation is displayed in the unit W/m² or BTU/hr/ft².
Module temperature and ambient temperature
1. Connect the temperature sensors and to the
BENNING SUN 2 .
2. Press the

key for temperature measurement.
3. Bring the module temperature sensor into contact with the PV
module and wait until the temperature sensor has measured the
temperature of the PV module.
Changing the displayed unit
1. Press the

key for > 5 seconds until the displayed tempera-
ture unit starts flashing.
2. Press the ►

key to select the respective unit for insolation or
temperature.
3. Press the ▲

or ▼
5
key to change between the units °C or
°F or between the units W/m² or BTU/hr/ft².
4. Press the

key (OK) to store the setting.
