Preparing the camera for use 13 Use only the specified battery for the camera, and always turn off the camera before removing the battery. A To install the battery: B 1. Release and open the battery/card cover (A). 2. Insert the battery in the correct direction by matching the + - label on the battery slot (B). 3. Push the battery all the way down. 4. Close and lock the battery/card cover (D). C To remove the battery: 1. Release and open the battery/card cover (C). 2. Pull the battery out. 3.

Initial setting Before initial use of an SD card, please format the card first by pressing > Manage Memory > / > Format > > > Yes. Operating the camera 17 The procedure below is a general guideline for basic operation. It is particularly useful if you are new to the camera. 1. Press to turn the power on. By default, the camera is set to Capture mode. Remember to follow the on-screen display or slide the Zoom lever to for instructions on the scene menu (wherever available). Next, press corresponding buttons to access and set more options. At any time, you can cancel the current operation by pressing to return to your previous step. 2.
Operating the camera • During zoom-in/out, there is a separator in the zoom bar between and English . For best image quality, it is recommended to use optical zoom only by keeping the magnification within and the separator. • Flash is automatically turned off during video recording. • During video recording, the recording time is continuous, but recording will stop once the memory card space is full. • At any time, you can press to turn off the camera. Capture mode English • While the shutter is pressed halfway, the shutter speed and the aperture are also shown on the screen (not available during video recording). • While the shutter is pressed down halfway, the AF area color changes to yellowgreen, camera shake warning (appears only if the camera itself detects possible shaking), aperture, shutter speed and ISO setting are also shown on the screen. Capture mode 21 Using the continuous shooting mode Icon Mode Description Off Captures a single photo at a time. Burst Continuously takes pictures as long as you keep pressing the shutter. The flash is always off in this mode. Hi-speed Burst Press and hold the shutter to take continuous shots at 10fps (the maximum number of photos is 10). Speedy Burst 120 Use this feature to capture 60 photos with at least 1/120 shutter speed with a press of the shutter.
Capture mode Using the flash mode English The flash offers additional light source (usually used in a low-light environment). You can capture an image using one of the following flash modes. Icon Mode Auto Flash Description The flash fires automatically based on the photographic conditions. Auto Anti Red- Reduces the red-eye phenomenon when eye capturing natural-looking images of people and animals in low-light conditions.
Capture mode 23 You can record video with this camera. Set the movie settings before you start recording a video. See "Movie Format" on page 31 for details. To record the video clip: 1. Adjust EV when the brightness between the subject and the background is not balanced, or when the subject occupies only a small part of the picture. To select an EV: 1. Press > EV Compensation. 2. Night Portrait (Handheld Night Portrait) Description Captures photos without using a tripod in a low-light environment (for example, in the evening or at night) and makes the subject (usually a person) stand out. The camera captures a sequence of images (one image with flash), and then processes these images by reducing noises and blur. Finally, a rendered night portrait photo is created. Smile Catch Automatically takes a shot when a smile is detected.

Love Portrait Takes a self portrait with at least two faces in a confined area. Blink Detector Warns of eye blinks if detected & lets you decide whether to save the image file. Portrait Makes the subject (usually a person) stand out with smooth and natural-looking skin tones. Child Increases sensitivity and emphasizes children's skin tones.
More on the capture mode 35 Mode Description Candle Light Makes a picture look warm, and thus captures the mood under candle light source. Flash is always off. Night Scene Captures photos in a low-light environment, such as in the evening or at night. Fireworks Adds exposure time to shoot firework trails. Please keep the camera steady or use a tripod while using this mode. Landscape Captures a scene in the distance with the focus area set to infinity and a lower aperture value.

Press to confirm setting. The camera keeps track of the face of your subject (a white frame shows). Once a smile is detected, the camera instantly takes a picture. The camera continues to detect smiles and takes more pictures. Face tracking (one face only) is always on in the Smile Catch mode.
6. The camera continues to detect faces and takes more pictures (after a twosecond countdown). Face tracking automatically stops if no faces are detected. Panorama Creates a panoramic photo from multiple shots. Two to three shots are stitched into one single and seamless large picture. Performs another 2-second delay then captures the image again. Off Takes one picture at a time. To select a drive mode: 1. Press > > Drive Mode. 2. Press or to enter the submenu. 3. Press 4.

If Object Tracking is selected, move the focus point to the center of the subject and press to lock the subject (press again to unlock). The AF tracking feature will now keep tracking the subject even if the subject moves. Once you see the composition you want, half press the shutter to make sure the subject is correctly focused and press the shutter fully to capture the image.

Setup menu 49 TV Setting Mode Description [Series] Stores the most recently used file number regardless of deleted files or a change of memory card. This is useful for avoiding the file name duplication when images are downloaded to a computer. [Reset] Resets file numbering each time the memory card is changed. TV Out Switches the video output according to different regional standards. Available settings: • NTSC: for America, Japan, Taiwan, and others. • PAL: for China, Europe, Oceania, and others.
Setup menu Icon English LCD Brightness Manage Memory Mode Description [Auto] The LCD brightness is automatically set based on the surrounding environment. [High] The LCD brightness is increased. [Normal] The LCD brightness remains at the default value. [Format] Formats the internal memory or the memory card. [Copy to Copies files from the internal memory to the memory card. Card] Reset All Resets the entire menu and button operation settings to initial default.

Playback mode Using Movie Edit English When a video clip is paused, press to enter Movie Edit mode. An edit panel appears on the left side of the screen. To edit the movie, do the following: 1. Playback mode Photo Effect You can add a photo effect to your images. English Icon Mode Description Normal No effect is added to the image. Negative Colors become the opposite of what they were in the original image. Mosaic Applies a mosaic tile effect to the image. Astral Applies a star flickering effect. Toy Applies with a shallow depth of field by gradually blurring the top and bottom areas of a composition. Watercolor Applies with watercolor effect.

Playback mode DPOF English The Digital Print Order Format (DPOF) setting allows you to select images on the memory card for printing and specify the number of print copies in advance using the camera. This is extremely convenient for sending the images to a photo developing service or for printing on a direct print function compatible printer. To set up DPOF: 1. In Playback mode, press > > DPOF. 2. Press or to select one of the following options.
Playback mode 63 Enhances and brightens the tone of skin and adjusts the eyes size so that the facial appearance looks better. To apply a Face Retouch effect: 1. In Playback mode, press Face Retouch > 2. Press and press or or > > . to select the retouch item or to enter the submenu. 3. Press or to adjust the desired setting and press to confirm. 4. After all settings are complete, press to save the image file.

ArcSoft Easily, creatively, and productively manage your MediaImpression™ multimedia files. Create your own movies or photo slide shows, and share your photo, video and music files easily through simple e-mail attachments or popular photo printing and video sharing websites. To install this program, see the information supplied with the CD.
Working with computer and AV system 65 You can play files in your camera on a TV using a micro HDMI cable. • Before connecting the camera to a TV, set the TV Out setting to match the TV’s video output format. See "TV Setting" on page 49 for details. • For details on changing the input source of the TV, refer to the TV’s user’s manual. • Some TVs may not recognize the video format (1080p or 1080i). Please check the user manual that came with the TV for more assistance.
Working with computer and AV system Printing images English In addition to printing images by connecting the camera to a printer via a computer or bringing the memory card (if available) to a photo-processing center, you can choose to print using PictBridge. Printing with PictBridge You can directly print images by connecting your camera to a PictBridgecompatible printer without using a computer. To print images from a PictBridge-compatible printer: 1.
