Only the following restricted sensor types are
certified for intrinsically safe use:
n SCOUT-powered sensors such as ICP/IEPE
accelerometers
n Self-powered tachometers such as
battery-powered handheld laser
tachometers
You can use other types of sensors such as
buffered outputs from instrumentation racks
only in lower rated Zone 2, Division 2 areas.
