FOREWORD
Carbon Monoxide
•
The exhaust gases contain carbon monoxide,
which is a poisonous gas. Carbon monoxide
can cause loss of consciousness and lead to
death. When starting-up the engine, ensure the
area is well-ventilated. Never start-up the engi-
ne indoors.
•
The engine can only be started-up indoors
if there are appropriate means to evacuate
exhaust gases.
Petrol
•
Petrol is extremely flammable and in certain
conditions, explosive.
•
Keep sources of heat, sparks and flames away
from the work area.
•
Always work in a well-ventilated area.
•
Never use petrol as a cleaning solvent. Avoid
handling petrol, unless absolutely necessary.
•
Do not use petrol to clean the components
use compressed air.
•
Keep out of reach of children.
Engine oil
•
Engine oil can cause skin diseases if repeated
and/or prolonged contact is made with skin.
•
If engine oil comes in contact with your skin,
wash with soap and water as soon as possible.
•
If contact is made with your eyes, rinse thorou-
ghly with water and consult a doctor.
•
If swallowed, do not induce vomiting so as to
prevent it from being absorbed into the lungs.
Consult a doctor immediately. If you think the
product has been absorbed into the lungs, the
person in question is to be taken immediately
to hospital.
•
Spent oil contains hazardous substances that
are harmful to the environment. When this is
replaced, you must have the right equipment
for its disposal in compliance with applicable
regulations.
•
Do not dispose of spent oil in the environ-
ment.
•
Keep out of reach of children.
FOREWORD
This manual has been drafted for the motorcycle user and Technical Support operator, whereby it provi-
des understandable information pertaining to the necessary operations of engine inspection, maintenan-
ce and repair.
This manual must be thoroughly read before operating the engine. Engine life is prolonged by having a
good knowledge of all the components and all the procedures to be followed when carrying out inspec-
tion and maintenance operations.
Schematic illustrations that highlight the subject matter have been included within the paragraphs for the
reader to immediately understand that being read.
