User Manual

Thank you for selecting the Opus 53 condenser microphone.
Please take some time to read carefully through this product
information before setting up the equipment.
Application
The Opus 53 has been designed for miking various instruments.
It is ideal for miking drums such as overhead, snare or hi-hat, for
brass and woodwind instruments as well as for guitars and other
string instruments.
Connection
The Opus 53 is equipped with a 3-pin XLR-plug and can be
connected to any microphone input supplying phantom power (12 -
48 V). We recommend a phantom power of 48 V.
Setting up and use
To achieve the best results place the microphone directly in front
of the sound source.
Due to the cardioid polar pattern independent of frequency there
is no coloration even when the instrument is moved off-axis.
To achieve the maximum gain before feedback, place the monitor
on an 180° axis from the front of the microphones.
Supply of the Opus 53 includes the MKV 9 microphone clamp for
mounting onto stands with 3/8" thread. For stands with 5/8"
thread unscrew the 3/8" thread insertion piece. For mounting
with the MKV 9 clamp the microphone shaft is pressed between
the two flexible jaws of the clamp.
Maintenance
Use a soft, damp cloth for cleaning the Opus 53 microphone.
If necessary, you can use a gentle cleansing agent (such as washing-
up liquid). Make sure not to allow any water to enter the transducer
element and never use any solvent cleansers.
