WELCOME 1 WELCOME Thank you for purchasing our product! Readme Classic has been developed using the latest technology. This product features a large memory, energy saving display and lightweight portability. The electronic ink display mimic the appearance of ordinary ink on paper, and is clearly visible under most lighting conditions.
WHAT IS DIGITAL EDITIONS? 4 WHAT IS DIGITAL EDITIONS? Digital Editions offers an engaging way to view and manage eBooks and other digital publications. You can use it to download and purchase digital content, which can be read both online and offline, transfer copy-protected eBooks from your computer to other computers or devices, organise your eBooks into a custom library and annotate pages. IMPORTANT When you copy DRM books from your computer to the Reader, a manifest.
WHAT IS DIGITAL EDITIONS? 7 Copy the eBook(s) to your eBook Reader by dragging and dropping them from the 'Library view' onto the U-Disk in the left hand panel. 8 If the eBook is large, a progress bar may appear as the eBook is being copied. 9 Exit Digital Editions. 10 Once Digital Editions is closed, press Enter on your eBook Reader and disconnect the USB cable. 11 Your eBook is now loaded to your eBook Reader and can be read. Another way is to download it from the Internet. 1 Click the Install button.

WHAT IS DIGITAL EDITIONS? 5 Click "I Agree". 6 Click "Launch". 7 This will launch your Digital Editions. 4.2 Authorising Your Computer You can view your DRM-protected eBooks on more than one computer, if you have authorised all the computers on which you want to read them. After you have installed Digital Editions, authorising your computer is optional but highly recommended. DRM-protected files are tied to you, who is the purchaser.

But if you did not authorise your computer before you download the book, then Digital Editions will tie the book to your specific computer. If you buy another computer later on, or even if you reinstall Digital Editions again, you will not be able to access any books that you have already downloaded. 4.2.

7 7.1 GETTING STARTED Charging the Battery The rechargeable battery comes pre-installed within the Reader. There are two ways to charge the battery: either by using your computer and USB cable, or using the AC adapter. 7.1.1 Charging with the computer 1 Connect the supplied USB cable to the USB charging port at the top of the eBook reader and connect the other end to your computer. 2 16 appears at the bottom of the screen to indicate charging.
GETTING STARTED 7.1.2 Charging with the AC Power Outlet 1 Connect the supplied USB cable to the power adaptor. 2 Connect the other end of the supplied USB cable to the USB charging port at the top of the eBook Reader and plug the power adaptor into an AC power outlet. Note It is normal for the Reader to build up heat while charging or after using for an extended period of time. CAUTION RISK OF EXPLOSION IF BATTERY IS REPLACED BY AN UNAUTHORISED PERSON. 7.
USING README CLASSIC FOR THE FIRST TIME Note Do not insert an incompatible memory card as it may cause the Reader to malfunction. 7.3 Removing a memory card Push in the memory card. The memory card will pop out from its slot. Note Do not insert or remove the memory card when the Reader is reading from the card or writing data to the card, as this may cause data corruption. 7.4 Switching the eBook Reader On/Off 7.4.1 Switching On Press P and release when the screen flickers.
USING README CLASSIC FOR THE FIRST TIME 8.1 Transferring files from your computer to the eBook Reader Before you can start reading an eBook and enjoy music on your Reader, you must first transfer them to the Reader. You can transfer files from your computer to the Reader using USB connection or transfer the files to a memory card first and then insert the memory card into the Reader. Note You can store any files on the Reader, but you can only open eBooks with it. 8.1.
USING README CLASSIC FOR THE FIRST TIME 3 When successfully connected, the following is displayed on the Reader: 4 Select OK to confirm. 5 On your computer, select Open folder to view files and click OK. 6 The U-Disk of the Reader will appear on your desktop. 7 Drag and drop the file(s) into the respective folders of the Internal Memory drive, or create a new folder in the Internal Memory drive.

You are ready to start reading your eBook on your Reader (see "Reading an eBook" on page 23). 8.1.2 Transfer files to a Memory card 1 Plug the memory card into a card reader that is connected to your computer or a memory card slot on your computer. 2 Once your computer has detected the memory card, drag and drop the file(s) into the memory card.

The main menu displays the 8 menu functions in a list. The current menu is indicated with a black cursor next to the option.
USING THE eBOOK READER A list of folders is displayed. 2 If you have inserted a memory card, press the soft key next to the memory location (Memory Card or Internal Memory) that you have stored the eBook. 3 Press the soft key next to the folder from which you wish to search for the eBook. If the directory listing is longer than a page, press NEXT PAGE to move to the next page. 4 Press the soft key next to the eBook you wish to read.
USING THE eBOOK READER 9.3.2 Enlarge or Reduce text size 1 When reading an eBook, press the last soft key for ZOOM function. 2 Press the NEXT PAGE or PREV PAGE key to select the zoom level (original, small, medium, large, extra large). Note: PDF files cannot support extra large zoom. If you select the largest zoom level, the display will automatically rotate to landscape view. 3 Press ENTER to confirm or press BACK to cancel the operation. 9.3.
USING THE eBOOK READER 9.3.4 Save to Favourites 1 When reading an eBook, press the soft key next to MENU symbol on the right of the screen. An options list is displayed. 2 Press the NEXT PAGE or PREV PAGE key to select Favourite and press ENTER. 3 Press ENTER again to confirm. 9.3.5 Modify Font Note Font sizes and styles may be preset on some eBooks (for example PDF) and you cannot modify them.

An options list is displayed. 2 Press the NEXT PAGE or PREV PAGE key to select Font and press ENTER. 3 Press theNEXT PAGE or PREV PAGE key to select your preferred font and press ENTER. The font sample is displayed at the bottom of the screen.

The font size sample is displayed at the bottom of the screen. 5 Press ENTER to confirm your settings. 9.3.6 Refresh Mode 1 When reading an eBook, press the soft key next to MENU symbol on the right of the screen. An options list is displayed. 2 Press the NEXT PAGE or PREV PAGE key to select Refresh Mode and press ENTER.

An options list is displayed. 2 Press the NEXT PAGE or PREV PAGE key to select Outline and press ENTER. The chapters in the eBook are listed.

To erase an incorrect input, navigate to Cancel or Backspace and press ENTER. 5 Press the NEXT PAGE or PREV PAGE key to select OK and press ENTER to confirm. 9.

Move to the last page 1 Press the soft key next to MENU symbol on the right of the screen. 2 Press the NEXT PAGE or PREV PAGE key to select Go to Page and press ENTER.

A list of bookmarks is displayed. 4 Press the NEXT PAGE or PREV PAGE key to select the bookmark and press ENTER. The screen will automatically display the page that contains the bookmark entry. 9.7 Delete a Bookmark entry 1 When reading an eBook, press the soft key next to MENU symbol on the right of the screen. An options list is displayed.
RECENT FILES An options list is displayed. 3 Press the NEXT PAGE or PREV PAGE key to select Delete Bookmark and press ENTER. A list of bookmarks is displayed. 4 Press the NEXT PAGE or PREV PAGE key to select the bookmark you wish to delete and press ENTER. The bookmark entry is deleted. 10 RECENT FILES Display the recent eBooks and audio files that you have accessed. 1 From the main menu, press the soft key next to Recent. The files that you have accessed recently is displayed.
FAVOURITE FILES 11 FAVOURITE FILES 1 From the main menu, press the soft key next to Favourite. The files that you have saved as Favourite is displayed. For information on how to save a file as Favourite, see "Save to Favourites" on page 26. 2 To read a file, press the soft key next it. 12 MUSIC You can play audio files on the eBook Reader. IMPORTANT To access music files from the Music menu, you must store them in the Music directory on your memory card or internal memory of the Reader.
MUSIC A list of audio files is displayed. 2 Press the soft key next to ^ or v icon to select an audio file. 3 Press the soft key next to PLAY icon to start playback. Hint When the selected song finished playing, the next song in the list will play automatically. To pause/resume music playback, press the soft key next to PAUSE icon.
System Info 12.2 Play music in the background 1 Press BACK during music playback. The music will continue to play in the background while you navigate to other menu functions. Hint The music player will stop automatically when you connect the eBook Reader to your computer via USB connection. 12.

SETTINGS 3 Navigate to your preferred language using the NEXT PAGE or PREV PAGE key and press ENTER to confirm. 4 Press BACK to exit. 14.2 Time setting 1 From the main menu, press the soft key next to Settings. 2 Press the soft key next to Time. The Month field is highlighted. 3 Select the Month using the NEXT PAGE or PREV PAGE key.
SETTINGS 4 Press the soft key next to Day and select using the NEXT PAGE or PREV PAGE key. 5 Press the soft key next to Year and select using the NEXT PAGE or PREV PAGE key. 6 Press the soft key next to Hour and select using the NEXT PAGE or PREV PAGE key. 7 Press the soft key next to Minute and select using the NEXT PAGE or PREV PAGE key. 8 Press BACK to exit. 14.3 Upgrade 1 From the main menu, press the soft key next to Settings. 2 Press the soft key next to Upgrade.
SETTINGS 4 Navigate to Default using the NEXT PAGE or PREV PAGE key and press ENTER. To cancel, navigate to Cancel and press ENTER. 5 Press BACK to exit. 14.5 Format Device Important After formatting the device, please restore the Reader to its factory default settings by running a reset operation. Otherwise, malfunctions may occur and Digital Editions may fail to detect your Reader. To restore the Reader to default, see "Default settings" on page 39.
SETTINGS 3 Navigate to Format using the NEXT PAGE or PREV PAGE key and press ENTER to confirm. To cancel, navigate to Cancel and press ENTER. 4 Press BACK to exit. 14.6 Sort 1 From the main menu, press the soft key next to Settings. 2 Press the soft key next to Sort.
SETTINGS 3 Navigate to your preferred sort order using NEXT PAGE or PREV PAGE key and press ENTER to confirm. 4 Press BACK to exit. 14.7 Auto Off 1 From the main menu, press the soft key next to Settings. 2 Press the soft key next to Auto Off.
SETTINGS 3 Navigate to an auto off timing using NEXT PAGE or PREV PAGE key and press ENTER to confirm. If you select 10 Mins, the Reader will power off automatically after 10 minutes of inactivity.
HELP/TROUBLESHOOTING 15 HELP/TROUBLESHOOTING The product is not working properly or locks up Reset the Reader by pressing the RESET button at the back of the Reader using a pointed object. Press P to re-start the Reader. There is no sound coming out from the Reader during audio playback • The reader does not come with a speaker. Please insert a earphone; • Check that the earphone plug has been properly inserted into the jack. • Check the volume level. The eBook cannot be read Check the format of the book.
IF YOU NEED HELP... The Reader did not start charging when connected to the computer • Check that the USB cable has been properly connected. See "Charging the Battery" on page 16. The Reader did not start charging when connected to the AC power • Check that the power cable has been properly connected. See "Charging the Battery" on page 16. The memory card cannot be recognised by the Reader • Check the format and size of the memory card.
REPLACING BATTERIES • The Reader is a precision electronic device. Handle it with care as the TFT screen may become damaged when dropped; • Unauthorised disassembling of the Reader in any manner may damage the device, and is not covered by the warranty. • Do not place the Reader close to anything with strong magnetic power. Strong magnets may cause malfunction to the Reader or the screen. In addition, do not use the Reader close to strong radio waves as this may damage the data in the Reader.
