Turbo™ System Transfer Setup
TheTurboprotocol,whencombinedwithTrans-Blottransferpacks,provideshighlyefcienttransfer
forawidevarietyofproteins.However,runconditionsmayneedtobeadjustedforaparticular
proteinofinterest.ProtocolsoptimizedfordifferentproteinandgeltypesareavailableintheBio-Rad
preprogrammedprotocolsinLISTmode.
ThesystemmayalsobeusedwithTrans-BlotTurboRTAtransferkits,whichofferthesametransfer
speedandefciencyasthetransferpacks,orsuperiorperformancetotraditionalsemi-dryblotting
consumablessuchasextra-thicklterpaperandTowbintransferbuffer(speedandefciencywillbe

3.1 Transfer Using Transfer Packs
Recommendations:
•Wearglovesatalltimesduringtheblottingprocesstopreventcontaminationofthegelsor
membranes
•Transfergelsimmediatelyafterelectrophoresiswithoutanequilibrationstep
•Thetransfermembranesandstacksofthetransferpacksareprewettedanddonotrequireany
furtherpretreatment.Openthetransferpacksimmediatelybeforeusetoavoiddryingthe
membrane
•Useonlytheappropriatecombinationsofgels,asshowninTable1
•Ifyouneedtomovethemembrane,carefullyuseattweezersorforceps
SelecttheappropriatetransferpackforyourapplicationaccordingtoTable2.Thesepacksarestable
forseveralmonthsatroomtemperature.However,toextendtheirshelflife,storethemat4ºC.The
transfermembranesandstacksofthetransferpacksareprewettedanddonotrequireanyfurtherpre-
treatment(forexample,wettingofthePVDFmembrane).
