3.6 Transfer Using a New Protocol
Assemblyoftheblottingsandwichisdescribedinsections3.1and3.2.Thissectiondescribessetting
upanewprotocol.
OntheHomescreen(Figure12),pressthenavigationbuttonthatcorrespondswithNEW.
PressingNEWwillbringuptheEditscreen(Figure18),wheretheusercansetthethreeparametersof
current(maximum2.5A),voltage(maximum25V),andtime(maximum90min)usingthealphanumeric
keypad.Theusercantogglebetweensettingaconstantvoltage(CONSTV)oraconstantcurrent
(CONSTA)usinganavigationbutton.Afterthesettingshavebeendetermined,apromptwillappear
tonameandsavetheprotocolforsubsequentuse,ifdesired.Asavedprotocolcanlaterbeaccessed
underLIST>USER-DEFINEDprotocols.Savedprotocolscanbedeletedwhennolongerrequired.

systemrunscreenwhereatransfercanbestarted.
Topreventdamagetothecassetteorinstrument,theTrans-BlotTurbosystemwillterminateatransferif
30wattsperhourisexceededoverthecourseoftherun.Dependingontheinitialrunconditionswhen
designingaprotocol,thesystemmaydisplayamessagewarningthatthe30watts/hourlimitmaybe
exceededduringtherun.
