OTHING COMES CLOSE!
Thanks for buying SPIKES
Needle Strips! SPIKES were developed by Bird-X (Bird
Control "X-Perts" since 1964) as a simple, economical, humane, maintenance free, and
permanent solution to your pest bird problem. Needle strips have been used
successfully on buildings and structures worldwide by homeowners, architects, building
owners and managers and more. Once you properly install SPIKES, you will have
permanently eliminated current and future roosting, nesting and landing areas. Birds
will avoid surfaces treated with SPIKES for the same reasons that humans avoid
walking on a bed of nails -- it's not lethal, just extremely uncomfortable!
Notice how SPIKES is a one-piece mold -- you don't need to assemble anything. Also
notice that it's transparent -- therefore nearly invisible, and it won't mar the look of your
building. Lastly, notice the "branches" protruding from each vertical projection -- this
offers fuller, denser coverage.
Precaution: SPIKES are non-lethal. However, the projections are quite sharp, so be
careful installing and handling. We suggest you wear protective gloves. Keep SPIKES
away from children.
Installation: Regardless of your surface's size, shape and material, you can attach
versatile SPIKES in one of three ways:
SPIKES Special Adhesive (purchase separately): Apply to underside of base.
Firmly press SPIKES onto surface. Let dry. (Make sure surface is clean and dry,
and temperature is 32F - 120F.)
Wire Ties: recommended for cabling, piping and thin railings
Clamps or Velcro
: recommended for temporary installations
Applications: This depends where your birds are! Some popular examples: Louvers,
Eaves, Air Conditioners, Ledges, Sills, Gutters and Pipes, Beams, Trusses, Support
Structures, Signs, Letters, Church Crosses, Bell Towers or Domes, Statues, Columns,
Cornices, Roof Perimeters, Cables, Trees, and anywhere else birds land or roost.
Coverage: For every 2 inches of width, use one row of SPIKES. For each linear foot,
use one foot (one piece) of SPIKES. SPIKES is only effective where it is applied; make
sure you treat the neighboring areas too so you don't encourage roosting!
Specifications: Material: polycarbonate. Color: clear. Resistance: weather, most
chemicals, UV radiation. Height 4½". Width (base) ½". Width (widest point) 2¼".
