We want to make sure your carpet washer works as well in one year as it does today, so this guide has tips on using, maintaining, and if there is a problem, troubleshooting. In just a few simple assembly steps, you’ll be ready to deep clean.

Assembly WARNING Do not plug in your carpet washer until you are familiar with all instructions and operating procedures. A Phillips-head screwdriver is required for Assembly in Step 2. 2 1 Slide Upper Body onto Lower Body. 4 Be sure to secure upper handle before lifting. Rotate lock collar to secure. Secure with screws. 5 Place Clean Water Tank on back of machine, so it “clicks” into place. 3 Slide upper Handle Post into the body by aligning the pin and sliding the post down into place.
Cleaning Formula Keep plenty of BISSELL® formulas on hand so you can clean whenever it fits your schedule. Always use genuine BISSELL formulas in your machine. Other formulas may harm the machine and void the guarantee. Carpet Cleaning Formulas Wash & Protect Pro Stain & Odour Professional strength to remove extra tough stains and odours. Pet Stain & Odour Removes tough pet stains and odours. Wash & Refresh Stain & Odour Removes tough stains and odours.
Filling the Clean Water Tank 2 1 Lift the Clean Water Tank straight up and away from the Lower Body to remove. Unscrew the cap at the bottom of the Clean Water Tank. 4 3 Replace and tighten the cap, then return the Clean Water Tank to Lower Body. It will “click” into place when seated properly. Fill with warm tap water to the WATER line. Fill the rest of the tank with BISSELL Formula to the FORMULA line.
Cleaning Your Carpet Important! Please check manufacturer’s tag before cleaning area rugs for any specialized cleaning instructions. We do not recommend deep cleaning delicate, silk, wool, antique, or area rugs, without a manufacturer’s tag. 2 1 Extend the Collapsible Handle Post by turning the collar counter-clockwise and lifting the handle up. Turn the collar clockwise to secure. Plug into a proper outlet.
Emptying the Dirty Water Tank WARNING To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock or injury, turn power OFF and disconnect plug from electrical outlet before performing maintenance or troubleshooting. 2 1 With foot, press the red Power Pedal, to turn OFF machine and then unplug. 3 Carefully remove tank by lifting up on the Carry Handle. 5 Rinse the Dirty Water Tank thoroughly and replace on machine. Secure latches on both sides of the tank.
Cleaning Your Machine After Use WARNING To reduce the risk of electric shock, turn power OFF and disconnect plug from electrical outlet before performing maintenance or troubleshooting checks. 2 1 Unplug the machine. Remove and rinse the Dirty Water Tank thoroughly. 4 3 Gently pull the two tabs that point up near the front of the machine. The nozzle will unhook to remove. Rinse under running water.
Replacing the Belts & Brush Rolls WARNING To reduce the risk of electric shock, turn power OFF and disconnect plug from electrical outlet before performing maintenance or troubleshooting checks. What you will need: 1 Phillips-head screwdriver & 1 flathead screwdriver 2 1 Turn the machine OFF and unplug from wall outlet. Remove both the Clean and Dirty Water Tanks. 3 Lay machine down to access the bottom of the machine. With a Phillips-head screwdriver, unscrew the belt cover and remove.
Replacing the Belts & Brush Rolls (cont.) 7 left side right side Brush Roll Brush Roll Endcap Washers Clean or replace the Brush Roll and belt. When finished, reassemble them to the machine. Insert the brush into the right side endcap. Adjust the right side of the brush into place and tuck the left Brush Roll cap (separate piece that attaches to Brush Roll) into place. 9 8 Maneuver the belt to wrap around the pulley. Wrap the belt around the cog of the Brush Roll.
Hard Floor Cleaning (select models only) WARNING To reduce the risk of fire and electric shock when cleaning a hard floor, the BISSELL® hard floor tool must be used and it must only be used with BISSELL Wash & Shine Floor Cleaner intended for use with this appliance. 1 2 Remove the Clean Water Tank by lifting straight up and away from Lower Body. Fill the tank using water and BISSELL Wash & Shine Floor Cleaner formula for cleaning the hard floor.
Troubleshooting WARNING To reduce the risk of electric shock, turn power OFF and disconnect plug from electrical outlet before performing maintenance or troubleshooting checks. Problem Reduced spray OR no spray Carpet washer not picking up cleaning solution 14 Possible causes Remedies Clean Water Tank is empty. Refill tank with water and formula. Lint screen on Clean Water Tank cap clogged. Soak Clean Water Tank cap in warm water and then rinse under running water. Spray nozzle clogged.
