Overview
With the Black Box
®
MediaCento IP system, you can avoid running expensive dedicated links from a
back room to digital signage in lobbies. Transmit audio and video streams over your existing LAN
infrastructure instead!
MediaCento IP packetizes signals so all your source content — including live, streaming, full
HD-quality video, as well as synchronized stereo audio and control — can be delivered anywhere
you want over Ethernet wiring (or, if your network supports it, across dedicated WAN links).
Transmitting over a copper network, the system extends video and audio streams to one or more
displays up to 300 feet (91.4 m) away.
To go farther, just add standard network switches. Daisychaining switches enables you to achieve
unlimited distance between the MediaCento IP transmitter and the last receiver in your system.
Distributing HD content for HD displays at Gigabit speeds, MediaCento IP transmits broadcast-quality
video without amplifiers. It supports 1080p resolution, no matter the distance or the number of
screens, and uses JPEG2000 compression for high-quality video. Plus, because it simulcasts video and
audio synchronously, there’s no lag from the first display to the last.
What’s more, the MediaCento IP system boasts QoS prioritization and bandwidth-management
controls, and includes easy-to-use content distribution/display management software for instantly
publishing and updating content on remote screens. Set up content distribution schedules or
narrowcast live camera feeds to digital signage. It’s that flexible.

MediaCento IP So easy to install!
Use MediaCento IP to send video and audio
content to digital signage or as part of a
far-reaching, fully managed multimedia-over-IP
system. If your network supports it, you can
incorporate it into a WAN environment, or simply
use existing CAT5e or CAT6 LAN wiring. Just
connect a DVI source (or HDMI source via an
adapter) to the transmitter, then connect a
CAT5e/CAT6 cable to one or more remote
receivers. The system can also be used in a
fiber-based network by adding copper-to-fiber
conversion equipment—or no cable at all by
simply adding wireless networking adapters.
