ETHERNET TO TWINAX/COAX PRINT SERVER
Problem: Error 28 appears at the printer or the printer’s line sync light comes on.
Resolution: If this situation occurs when you have pushed the Mode button twice
on the print server to generate a self-test on the ASCII printer, the printer is telling
you that it has lost line sync with the print server. This is normal. The condition
should clear itself when you return the print server to normal operating mode by
continuing to press the Mode button until all the orange LEDs turn off.
Problem: The AS/400 creates a different IPDS printer than is connected to the
LANRPC.
Resolution: IBM dot-matrix IPDS printers will emulate either a 4224-2 or 4234-12,
(that is, you have attached a 6400-12 shuttle matrix IPDS printer to the LAN RPC).
The AS/400 will see it as a 4234-12 (a 4230 will appear as a 4224-2, etc).
Problem: The Error LED flashed.
Resolution: A number of conditions can cause the Error LED to flash. An error will
be printed on the attached twinax/coax printer. Review the report, make
adjustments as indicated, or call Technical Support for assistance.
Problem: The IBM 4224 IPDS printer will not print a self-test from the print server.
Resolution: This is generally caused by the page size on the printer having been set
to a page size smaller than 13.2" x 11". Following the instructions in the
manufacturer’s users guide for the printer, change the MPP to 132 and the MPL
to 66.
Problem: The IPDS dot-matrix printer is not using a correct page size.
Resolution: For systems running V5R1 OS/400 and attaching a 4224, 4230, 4234,
4247, 6404, 6408, or 6412 IPDS printer through the print server, the page-size
control value needs to be changed. Use the CRTPSFCFG command and change
PAGSIZCTL from *NO to *YES.
