4.5 Configuring OS/400 for AnyNet
AnyNet is an IBM gateway technology that allows any application to run over any
networking protocol. Black Box’s implementation of AnyNet allows printing of
SNA (APPC) data over TCP/IP, giving users the security and functionality of SNA
(APPC) as well as the routability and ease-of-use of the popular TCP/IP protocol.
Use this protocol for all SCS twinax printers. This protocol may also be used with
IPDS printers when PSF/400 is not installed on the AS/400.
Proceed with the following steps to configure the print server and your AS/400 for
AnyNet printing:

As you configure the AS/400 and later the print server, you will be asked to supply
various names and parameters. To make the process easier, you should retrieve or
decide on the information now. Before you proceed, you should enter the
requested names and parameters in the following worksheet:
1. Host Network ID: _________________________
The AS/400’s network ID can be retrieved from the network attributes listing:
On the AS/400 command line type DSPNETA (Display Network Attributes).
Press <Enter>. The Host Network ID is listed as the Local network ID.
2. Host Control Point Name: ________________________
The AS/400’s control point name can be retrieved from the network
attributes listing. On the AS/400 command line type, DSPNETA (Display
Network Attributes) and press <Enter>. The Host Control Point Name is
listed as the Local control point name. While in the DSPNETA screen, page
down to the third page and verify that the field Allow AnyNet Support is set to
*YES.
3. Print Server Name: ______________________
Choose a unique name to assign to the print server later. This name must
comply with the following requirements:
