5. Operation
This chapter explains how to operate the Multi-Head ServSwitch. Please read this
chapter carefully before starting to use the Switch; also make sure you have read
the important note at the start of Chapter 4.
5.1 Power Status
At power-up, the Multi-Head ServSwitch will try to select CPU channel #1 unless
(a) a password has been set or (b) the Switch isn’t getting enough power to operate
properly. Watch the Switch’s front-panel 7-segment display, as described in
Figure 5-1: If the Switch is not receiving enough power, the display will be blank; if
the Switch can select CPU 1, the display will show “1”; or if a password has been set,
the Switch will display “P” and remain locked until a valid password is entered. (For
the meaning of this display after power-up, see Section 5.3.)
