Tap > Security > Screen lock.
3. Do one of the following:
• To unlock your device with a password, tap Password.
• To unlock your device with a numeric PIN, tap PIN.
• To unlock your device using a number and picture combination, tap Picture.
• To unlock your device by tracing a pattern on the screen, tap Pattern.
4. Set whether the screen lock is required to turn on your device.
5. Complete the instructions on the screen.
Change or remove a screen lock
You can change the type of screen lock that you use to unlock your device, as well as change the password, PIN, picture
password, or pattern.
If you use your device for work, your administrator might have security rules in place that require you to have a screen lock.
1. Swipe down from the top of the screen once using two fingers, or twice using one finger.
2.
Tap > Security > Screen lock.
3. Enter your password, PIN, picture password, or pattern, and then tap Next.
4. Do any of the following:
• To set up a dierent screen lock or change your password, PIN, picture password, or pattern, tap a type of screen
lock.
• To wake up your device without entering a password, PIN, picture password or pattern, tap Swipe or None.
5. Complete the instructions on the screen.
6. Tap OK.
Note:
If a screen lock option isn't available, from the Security screen, you might need to tap Clear credentials first.
Set your screen lock options
After you set up a screen lock for your device, you can set up your screen lock options. For example, you can set how long
your device can be inactive before it automatically locks and whether your device automatically deletes your device data if
you enter your password incorrectly ten times.
1. Swipe down from the top of the screen once using two fingers, or twice using one finger.

Tap > Security.
3. Do any of the following:
• To lock your device automatically after a certain amount of inactive time, tap Automatically lock, and then tap an
interval. This option doesn't apply if you have the Smart Lock feature set up.
• To lock your device when you press the Power on/o key, turn on the Power button instantly locks switch.
