ternately near the right or left ear of the
driver as if he were sitting in the driver's
seat.
To calibrate an equalizer for the driver
and passenger, position the calibration
microphone alternately at the positions
at which the head of the driver or pas-
senger would be located.
Note:
When you perform the calibration, take
a position in the vehicle from which you
can move the calibration microphone
between the desired calibration posi-
tions.
The positioning of the calibration micro-
phone must be carried out for every phase
or for every calibration segment during the
calibration:
During the fi rst phase (determining the
reference sound pressure), position
the calibration microphone at the head
level above the driver's seat.
During the second phase (calibration
of equalizer frequencies), position the
calibration microphone within every
calibration segment at the desired
points.
For example, if you want to calibrate the
equalizer setting for driver and passen-
ger, hold the calibration microphone
within every 5-second calibration seg-
ment fi rst at the position of the driver's
head and change to the position of the
passenger's head after approx. 2 sec-
onds. You can identify the change from
one segment to the next by the modifi ed
sound level of the calibration noise.
For the calibration in normal mode,
note that 12 calibration segments fol-
low in sequence.
Starting the calibration
Quiet surroundings are required for the cal-
ibration. Any extraneous noise will distort
the measured values. The windows, doors,
and sunroof must remain closed during the
calibration, and the vehicle's engine must
be switched off.
DANGER!
The calibration noise generated
during the calibration may be perceived as
loud and uncomfortable and irritate you in
traffi c.
Never start the calibration while driving.
Notes:
If you perceive the calibration noise
as too loud and uncomfortable, you
can always cancel the automatic cali-
bration at any time by pressing the
"BRK" softkey 9. The display briefl y
shows "BREAK" and you are returned
to the menu. The equalizer settings
are not changed.
The sound radiating from the loud-
speakers must not be obstructed
by any objects. All the loudspeak-
ers must be connected. The calibra-
tion microphone must be connected
to the device, the calibration of the
equalizer should be performed be-
fore the DNC calibration.
To calibrate an equalizer,
press the MENU button A.
Press the softkey "Audio Settings" 6.
Press the "DSA" softkey 9.
The display shows the DSA menu.
Press the "User equalizer" softkey 6.
