BluetoothTM is a registered trademark of Bluetooth SIG, lnc. Bluetooth is a wireless communication technology with short range. It enables wireless connections between all compatible portable and stationary communication devices. The technology is based on a radio connection that ensures a fast and reliable transmission of voice and data information. Bluetooth refers to a worldwide standard for operating in the internationally recognised ISM frequency band (Industrial Scientific & Medical).

Inserting the battery 2 3 1 4 5 Battery information The device is equipped with a lithium-ion battery. The battery is compatible with the Nokia battery BL-5B. The full performance of a new battery is not achieved until after two or three complete charging-discharging cycles. The battery can be charged and discharged several hundred times, but it looses its capacity over time.
The BT Drive Free 311 is operated with a rechargeable battery. Charge the battery completely before its first use. Read the section "Battery information" before starting the charging process. Connect the BT Drive Free 311 with the vehicle charging adapter via the USB cable. Connect the vehicle charging adapter with the cigarette lighter. The BT Drive Free 311 can also be charged with the USB cable connected to the computer. During the charging process, the display shows "Charging".
Standby mode After approx. 20 seconds after the last activity, the device switches to standby mode. The display shows "BT DF 311" without background illumination. The illumination is switched on with every button activity or by an incoming call. Switch-off To switch the device off, hold the MF button pressed for 5 seconds until the display shows "Power Off " and a voice announcement is heard. Note: If no connection exists to a cell phone, the BT Drive Free 311 automatically switches off after 10 minutes.
Copying the phone book You can copy a single phone book entry or the phone book to the BT Drive Free 311. (Note: Not all cell phones support the transfer of the phone book.) Copying a phone book entry – In standby mode, briefly press the MODE button. The display shows "Waiting", and you hear a voice announcement. – Open the phone book of the cell phone. Select a contact for copying. – Send the selected contact via Bluetooth to the device name "BT DF 311".
Using the BT Drive Free 311 After the pairing and the phone book transfer have been completed successfully and the battery has been charged, the following functions can be executed: Making a call – Voice dialling The connected cell phone must support voice dialling and the function must be activated. The voice commands for the contacts must have been saved in the cell phone. You find the pertinent information in the operating instructions of the cell phone.
25 ENGLISH Answering a call With an incoming call, the name of the caller is announced and shown on the display, if this contact was transferred to the phone book of the BT Drive Free 311. If no name is stored in the phone book, the phone number is announced and displayed. To answer the call, briefly press the MF button. Ending a call To end a call, briefly press the MF button. The display shows "End Call" and you hear a voice announcement.
Resetting the BT Drive Free 311 You can restore the original factory settings of the BT Drive Free 311. In doing so, all paired cell phones, the phone book and the call list are deleted and English is set for voice announcements. – In standby mode without Bluetooth connection, hold the buttons "+" and "–" pressed at the same time for 5 seconds until the display shows "Erasing". The process starts and is completed once the display shows "Erased" and you hear a voice announcement.
