Theft protection Entering the code number If the car radio is cut off from its power supply, then it will not be possible to operate the radio immediately after it has been reconnected. When the radio is switched on, the word CODE will appear in the display. The letter C will flash. First, you must enter the five-digit code using the station buttons 1 to 6. Example for entering the code: the code number is 15342 (you can find your code number on the enclosed RADIO CODE CARD).
If you enter and confirm an incorrect code number, the word CODE will appear in the display again. After an incorrect code number has been entered a total of three times, the word WAIT will appear in the display and the radio will stop functioning for 10 minutes. If you enter an incorrect code three more times, then the radio will stop functioning for another 10 minutes. The entry of three more incorrect code numbers (a total of nine attempts) means that the radio will be blocked for 60 minutes.
General instructions First-time operation Press in order to switch the unit on. Press again in order to switch the unit off. The radio can also be switched on and off with the ignition. If you want the radio to switch on when you start the ignition, then do not press to switch it off. If the radio is switched on without starting the vehicle ignition, then it will switch off again automatically after one hour.
Fader FM Press once. The letters FAD will appear in the display. Turn the volume control to the left to move the sound to the rear speakers. Turn the volume control to the right to move the sound to the front speakers. TP FAD d0e ST Medium setting: Set the fader to 0. Bass Press 2x. The letters BASS will appear in the display. Turn the volume control to the left to reduce the bass level. Turn volume control to the right to increase the bass level. Medium setting: Set the bass to 0.
Balance FM Press 4x. The letters BAL will appear in the display. Turn the volume control to the left to move the sound to the left speaker. Turn volume control to the right to move the sound to the right speaker. TP BAL l0r Medium setting: Set the balance to 0. ST Medium setting for all of the sound qualities in every operating mode Press and hold it down for longer than 2 seconds.
Navigation This system operates with highly accurate, digitally stored maps. The destinations can be selected directly and stored in a destination memory. The driving recommendations for route guidance are emitted acoustically via the car radio loudspeakers and visually using the appropriate pictograms in the display. This system is also supported by a GPS receiver. What does GPS stand for? GPS stands for Global Positioning System.
Rocker switch navigation Cursor up Move the cursor up or down in order to select the individual menu items. Confirm your selection by pressing CONFIRM. Navigation mode Press to access the basic navigation menu. The last destination entered will appear in the first line. Press mode off. Cursor left Cursor right to switch the navigation CONFIRM Cursor down Entering your destination Select ENTER DESTINATION by moving the cursor up or down and confirm your selection by pressing CONFIRM.
1. DESTINATION MEMORY Here you can view the destinations which you have already stored in the memory. Select one using the cursor and press CONFIRM to activate your selection. 2. TOWN/CITY Move the cursor up or down in order to select TOWN/CITY and press CONFIRM. Then enter the first 2 to 4 letters of the town/city name as follows: Move the cursor up or down, left or right to highlight one of the letters (background will become dark) and select it by pressing CONFIRM.
CITY CENTRE You can choose between several different locations for the city entered under the menu item CITY CENTRE. STREET/CROSSING Enter your destination street under the menu item STREET/CROSSING in the same way as you entered the city name and confirm your selection by pressing CONFIRM. Following this, the menu items STORE DESTINATION, START RTE GUIDANCE, CROSSING will appear in the display.
Then you can activate START RTE GUIDANCE to compute the route and start route guidance. 3. STREET/CROSSING If you have already reached the destination you entered and now want to drive to another street in the same city or town, you can also select the menu item STREET/CROSSING directly. Enter your new destination under the menu item STREET/CROSSING in the same way as you entered the name of the city or town and confirm your selection by pressing CONFIRM.
STORE DESTINATION You can store the currently selected destination in the basic navigation menu under the menu item STORE DESTINATION. After you have selected STORE DESTINATION, three sub-menus will appear in the display: STORE ONLY The destination appearing at the top of the display will be stored in the destination memory. ENTER SHORT NAME The destination appearing at the top of the display will be stored in the destination memory along with any name you also choose to enter.
Autonomous route guidance Calculating the route After you have entered the destination and activated route guidance by pressing CONFIRM, the Navigation system will begin to compute the quickest route to your destination with the help of the road map information stored on the CD. This process can take up to 30 seconds. During this time, an arrow will point in the direction of the destination, CALC RTE will appear in the display and the voice output will say ”The route is being calculated”.
This is only possible when the vehicle is stationary. FM Driving recommendations The driving recommendations are given in plenty of time so that you are always able to prepare for a turn. A bar graph on the right of the display shows you the exact distance to the turning point. After you hear the driving recommendation ”Follow the road”, you will see the distance to the next turning point displayed at the bottom of the screen in addition to the name of the street on which you are currently travelling.
Enter position Entering your position is only required in exceptional cases when the system is unable to determine the vehicle position automatically with the help of GPS. Press for approximately 3 seconds. The display shown on the right will then appear. Use the up/down cursor button to select ENTER POSITION and confirm your selection by pressing CONFIRM. The next menu screen will appear in the display.
Changing the navigation CD-ROM CD slot The navigation system can only operate in combination with a navigation CD-ROM inserted in the CD-ROM player of the navigation computer. The data on the CD-ROM is updated and expanded as necessary. To ensure that the system can operate properly you should always use the most recent CD-ROM. If you have any questions please contact your local service station. The navigation computer is mounted in the boot.
Operating the radio FM1 TP Setting up the radio mode In order to switch on the radio mode, press one of the waveband buttons marked or BBC 1 . In order to exit the navigation menu, press 2x. ST Setting the waveband Press the button. The radio will switch from FM to TP (Traffic Program) alternately. FM TP - T1 TP 87.5 ... 108.0 MHz 87.5 ... 108.0 MHz BBC 1 Press the button. The station last listened to in one of the AM waveband MW, SW or LW will switch on and become audible.
RDS System This car radio is designed to receive RDS signals (RDS = Radio Data System) in the FM band. RDS is a system which transmits additional information in the FM band inaudibly. This means that the radio stations transmit information which the car radio is able to evaluate.
FIX mode (holding a station frequency) Press to switch the Fix mode on or off. When the Fix mode has been activated (RDS switched off), the stations are displayed numerically. Alternative frequencies are not evaluated. FM1 98,4 MHZ ST Automatic station search Press the rocker switch to the right, the radio will search through the station frequencies in ascending order. manual search up Press the rocker switch to the left, the radio will search through the station frequencies in descending order.
The increments will appear in the display as follows: 100 kHz for FM 9 kHz for MW 1 kHz for LW 5 kHz for SW Scan function Press . This activates an automatic search in ascending order for the selected waveband AM (MW, LW, SW) or FM (FIX, RDS, RDS-TP). The first search is conducted at a low level of sensitivity, the second at a high level of sensitivity. After a station within reception range has been found, it will play for approximately 8 seconds.
Storing stations on the station preset buttons You can store stations from each of the wavebands on the station buttons to : 6 stations for FM (Fix mode) 6 stations for FM-RDS 6 stations for FM-RDS-TP 6 stations for MW 6 stations for LW 6 stations for SW FM6 Example: Storing a station on station preset ”6”. - Select a waveband and tune into the desired station. - Press the station preset button ”6” and hold it down. The radio will switch to audio mute.
Autostore The autostore function makes an additional set of station presets available. After you activate this function, a search will begin and the six stations with the best reception will be stored on the station presets starting with the best quality. The stations or frequencies stored on these station presets in the normal mode will not be affected. You can use the autostore function in the FM-RDS and the FM-RDSTP modes only.
Regional mode If the radio station you are listening to also broadcasts regional programs, this will be indicated automatically in the display with an additional regional symbol. The letters RP indicate that the radio station you are tuned into also broadcasts regional programs. In this case, the RDS function will be limited to the region, when the regional mode is switched on. Switching on Press the RDS button for longer than 2 seconds. The current mode will be displayed.
If this is annoying, then you must switch back to either the regional or Fix operating mode. TP (Traffic Program) TP (TP = Traffic Program) will appear in the display as soon as you tune into a station which broadcasts traffic information during the program. In the TP mode, the automatic search function will select only those stations which broadcast traffic information during their regular program. While listening to a traffic message, you can adjust the bass and treble, if desired.
Traffic Program search/Station preset buttons In the TP mode, a search for traffic program stations only will be made when the station search function is activated. You can also use the SCAN search in this mode. You can allocate 6 different FM stations to the station preset buttons, as described under ”Storing stations on the station preset buttons”. Switching audio mute on/off By pressing , you can switch all of the FM operating modes to audio mute and the radio will be set to standby for traffic messages.
Traffic messages A traffic message already in progress can be interrupted by pressing the audio mute button, when the unit is in the CD mode. The radio will then switch back to its previous operating mode. However, the next traffic message will be played as usual. If you do not want to hear any traffic messages during CD operation, then you must press the audio mute button until the inverted TP symbol disappears from the display.
CD mode (optional) CD changer standby mode If a CD changer has been connected to the car radio, then it is ready to function as soon as it has been loaded with a filled CD magazine (refer to illustration). Make sure you insert the magazine correctly and close the sliding cover as soon as the magazine is in place. Now use the front panel of the car radio in order to operate the CD changer.
CD playback Press the switch. CD mode will be indicated in the display. The CD which was played last will start at the point at which it stopped when the CD changer was switched off. You can select the CDs in the magazine by pressing the station preset buttons to . LOADING will then appear in the display. When the unit has finished loading, the magazine compartment number of the CD selected will appear after the CD symbol and the number of the track will also be displayed.
track, the CD will skip back to the first track. In the reverse direction, the CD will skip from the first track to the last one. Fast forward/rewind By pressing the rocker switch either down (review) or up (cue) and holding it, you can activate an audible reverse or fast forward function. The playback volume will turn down to a certain level. Release the button to stop the search function. If the end of the CD is reached during fast forwarding, then the CD changer will jump to the next CD.
General instructions on CD operation The CD changer has been equipped with a temperature control to prevent exposure to excessive heat or cold. Should this temperature control register a temperature which is too high during CD operation, the CD player will first be switched to audio mute and for approximately 4 seconds, the corresponding message CD TEMP ∧ will appear in the display.
Do not leave the discs unprotected after playing them. Put them back into their covers immediately. Any discs coated with a film of moisture (in the case of extreme changes in temperature, for example) may not playback correctly. Safety measures for laser equipment This unit is a class 1 laser product. It may emit a dangerous, invisible laser beam if the housing is opened, faulty or damaged. Warning! Do not remove the housing cover. This unit contains no parts which can be serviced by the user.
Special functions Select language Press for longer than 3 seconds. The display illustrated at the right will then appear. Choose either German or English as the language in which the menu should appear and in which the driving recommendations should be given with the help of the menu item SELECT LANGUAGE. p DISPLAY CONTRAST LOAD VOICE OUTPUT CALIBRATION Display contrast, load voice output, calibration Press the and p GPS-DATA ENTER POSITION SELECT LANGUAGE switches at the same time.

If the system still does not function properly after the calibration, please consult an authorised service centre. Switching off the visual driving instructions FM1 During the navigation mode, press until the display switches to the audio mode. You will then receive spoken driving instructions only. The letters NAV will appear in the top line of the display. Press mode.
What to do, if . . . a load is too strongly magnetised? the functioning of the sensors is restricted? Roof-top and bicycle carriers may interfere with the reception of the satellites. If the GPS receiver or the connection between the GPS receiver and the navigation unit is defective, then the following message will appear in the display: ”ROUTE GUIDANCE IS NOT POSSIBLE. PLEASE CONSULT MECHANIC”.
General information You have missed the driving recommendations or the motorway exit: The system will say: ”Make a U turn, if possible” and will immediately start to compute a new, alternate route. You realise that the database is no longer up-to-date: OFF ROAD appears in the display. You are either driving on a new road or the course of the road has been altered. Continue driving as before. The system will pick up the digitalised road network again as soon as possible.
