Navigation
This system operates with highly accurate, digitally stored maps.
The destinations can be selected directly and stored in a destination
memory. The driving recommendations for route guidance are emitted
acoustically via the car radio loudspeakers and visually using the
appropriate pictograms in the display. This system is also supported by
a GPS receiver.
What does GPS stand for?
GPS stands for Global Positioning System. This system makes it
possible to determine positions all over the world, on land, on the water
or in the air. It was first developed for military purposes and, with
certain restrictions, it has been released for civilian use. With the help
of 25 satellites which orbit the Earth at an altitude of 20,000 km, it is
possible to determine positions. These satellites transmit positioning
and time signals which can be received on the Earth. If you go beyond
the digitalised network in your vehicle, your current position can be
determined with the help of GPS. Exact locating is not possible until at
least 4 or more satellites are within reception range.
Press for longer than 2 seconds. The following input box will
appear. The number of satellites currently within reception range will
appear under the menu item GPS-DATA. In order to exit this menu,
press once more.
