Servicing The Engine
Use SAE 30 detergent oil classied “For Service SF,
SE & SD”. Remove the oil ll plug, ll the crankcase
to a point of overowing (see diagram). Capacity is
approximately 1¼ pints (0.6 liters). Replace the oil ll
plug.
Fill the fuel tank. Use fresh, clean, unleaded
automotive gasoline. Use of leaded gasoline will
increase carbon and lead oxide deposits and reduce
valve life.
Pre-Start Check
Make sure the stop switch is in the OFF position 1.
and spark plug wire is disconnected. Pull the
starter rope slowly to make certain there are no
foreign objects in the dethatcher.
Reconnect spark plug wire and attach cover to the 2.
spark plug.
Starting the Engine - Honda
Turn the stop switch to the "ON" position.1.
Move the choke lever to the FULL CHOKE position 2.
and the fuel valve to ON. (see diagram).
Grasp the starter handle rmly. Pull the handle 3.
with a rapid continuous motion.
When the engine starts, move the choke to ½ 4.
choke and then to NO choke position.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Clear the lawn of any debris. Clearly mark
rocks and other xed objects. Be especially
sure to check for hidden electrical cables or
similar in the surface of the lawn.
