PROPERTIES OF THE SPEED CONTROLLER
Propeller brake: Prevents rotating of the prop during gliding when turned
on. ( Not for helicopters)
Battery-type: You will have to choose between LiPo/Li-ion or NiMH / NiCad
batteries. Improper selection of the battery type could affect the Cut-off set-
tings.
Cut-off Mode: Gradually reduces the motor power (soft cut-off) or Immedi-
ately stops the motor ( cut-off) when the battery voltage is getting to low.
Cut-off threshold: determines at which voltage the cut-off mode is activated.
For LiPo and Li-ion batteries the cut-off voltage per cell can be set as follows:
2,6V (low) , 2.85V (Normal) and 3.1V (High)
For NiCad and NiMH : cut-off at specic % of the initial voltage 0% (low),
45%(medium), 60%(high)
Start-Mode: Normal start , soft start or super soft start (for helicopters)
Timing: Low timing can be used for most motors, to increase the efciency,
low timing is used for 2 poles motors, and medium timing is used for motors
with 6 or more poles. High timing is used for high speed motors. In case of
doubt, consult your motors manual.
USAGE
- Connect the controller to the motor (3connectors) and plug the servo cable in
the according receiver channel.
- Put the throttle stick in the lowest position and switch on the radio.
- Connect the battery to the controller.
- The ESC will start the self-test and emits the 123 tone, which indicates
that the voltages is sufciently high.
- next n-tones will be emitted (n=number of LiPo cells)
- followed by one long beep tone (______), indicating that the helicopter is
ready for start.
CALIBRATION OF THE RADIO:
Should be done, every rst time you use a new radio on the ESC.
- Put the throttle stick in the highest position and switch on the radio.
- Connect the ESC with the battery and wait for 3 seconds.
- The ESC begins self testing and emits the 123 tone, indicating that volt-
age is sufciently high.
- A double beep tone indicates that the highest throttle position was recog-
nized correctly.
- Put the throttle stick in the lowest position, and n-beep tones will be emitted
(n=number of LiPo cells)
- A long beep tone indicates now that the bottom position of the throttle stick
has positively been recognized.
- The ESC is now ready for use.
PROGRAMMING THE CONTROLLER
- Programming the controller is simple and Works according the principle of
loop menus.
- A list of choices will be emitted as different beep tones. At the desired option,
put the throttle stick down.
1) Set up the programming mode
- Bring the throttle stick to the highest position, switch on the radio. Connect
the battery to the ESC.
- The ESC will emit the123 tone, indicating that the voltage is sufciently
high.
- Wait for 2 seconds, and 2 beep tones will be emitted.
- Wait for 5 more seconds till the 56712 tone is emitted.
- You are now in the programming mode.
2) You will now hear a loop of different tones , each tone is according a spe-
cic function, as described in the table below. Choose the desired function
that you want to change by pulling down the throttle stick within 3 seconds,
after hearing it.
3) For the previously chosen Function, an option must be chosen now.
- The esc will again emit a series of all the possible options. The different
tones accord the table below. Select the desired option by pushing the throt-
tle stick in the highest position
- A special 1515 tone conrms that your choice is memorized.
- By leaving the stick in the upper position, you will go back to the functions
menu
- By pulling the throttle stick down in the lowest position, the programming
mode will be shut down within 2 seconds
* = factory setting
WARNING
After each change or adjustment in the ESC program, the RC Model must care-
fully be checked and tested on the ground. Wrong adjustments and program-
ming can lead to dangerous situations and even to crashes.

After connecting the battery, the motor doesn’t work, no sound
is emitted.
No or wrong connection between battery and ESC Check the connectors between battery and ESC
After connecting the battery, the motor doesn’t work. The follo-
wing beep tone is emitted: _ _ _ _ _ with an interval of 1sec.
De Battery voltage is to low or to high. Check the battery and charge it if necessary
After connecting the battery, the motor doesn’t work. The follo-
wing beep tone is emitted: _ _ _ _ _ with an interval of 2sec..
The throttle signal is not recognized Check the radio and receiver, check if the servokabel is
in the right channel? Recalibrate the radio.
After connecting the battery, the motor doesn’t work. The
following beep tone is emitted: :_ _ _ _ _ with an interval of
0.25 sec.
The throttle stick is not in the lowest position Put the throttle stick in the lowest position
After connecting the battery, the 56712 tone is emitted
(Programming-mode)
The throttle channel on the radio is reversed. In this
state the minimum throttle is stick up and the maximum
throttle is stick down.
Switch the throttle channel on the radio back in the
‘NOR’ (normal) position
The motor turns in the wrong direction Connection error between motor and ESC Switch randomly 2 connectors between Motor and ESC
The motor suddenly stops turning 1) Signal lost 2) Cut-Off activated 3) connection break. 1) Check radio and receiver 2) Land immediately and
charge the battery or replace it. 3) Check all the con-
nectors on receiver, ESC, Motor and battery.
