OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS FOR MINI ORBITRON
MODELS 260100 & 260100-2
CAUTION: Read Instructions before operating this device.
Product Information:
The Boekel Mini Orbitron is designed to provide a gentle, low-foam mixing motion for uniform mixing of fluids in small
collection tubes to larger centrifuge tubes. The mixing is achieved through the combination of orbital and rocking motion of
the tray.
Installation:
The Mini Orbitron must be placed on an appropriate flat surface such as a bench top. Be sure to provide adequate
clearance around the unit to allow the tray to move freely through its motion. The Mini Orbitron can be placed in a cold
room or in an incubator up to a maximum temperature of 40°C. The unit must be plugged into a properly grounded outlet
and the appropriate voltage as displayed on the serial label affixed to the bottom of the product. When moving the unit
always carry the unit by the base, carrying the unit by the tray could result in damage to the unit.
Product Operation:
This product is designed so that the tubes can be placed directly on the dimpled mat provide with the unit without additional
strapping. When stacking tubes it is recommended that the tubes be secured to the tray using a rubber band. The On/Off
switch is located on the front of the unit. The direction of the tray can be reversed if desired by holding the base with one
hand and with your other hand briefly touching the underside at a corner of the tray.
CAUTION: Always load the tray so that load is balanced and uniform before turning on the unit. A maximum
load of 1-3/4 lbs (0.8kg)
can be placed on the tray. Overloading will result in possible damage to the unit. Do not
stall the Mini Orbitron for an extended period of time, doing so can damage the motor and drive components.
Maintenance:
CAUTION: Always unplug the unit from the power source before any cleaning. Do not immerse the unit in
water. Do not resume using the Mini Orbitron unit until it has had time to dry.
The Mini Orbitron does not require maintenance. Cleaning of the unit should only be done using a damp cloth and mild
detergent. The rubber mat can removed and cleaned with soap and water. Spilled liquids should be promptly cleaned to
prevent damage to the unit and its finish. Always follow safe laboratory practices.
