6.5.3. Alternator
Notes on the three phase system:
• Never disconnect cables between the battery, alternator and regulator while the
engine is running.
• However, if it’s necessary to start and operate the engine without a battery then
disconnect the regulator from the alternator before starting.
• Be sure not to confuse the battery terminals (e.g. positive “+” and negative “-”)
• Replace a defective charge pilot lamp bulb immediately
• Cover up the alternator and regulator before washing the engine
• Do not touch live leads against the frame if you have a motor with a three phase
electrical system.
• In the case of electric welding, connect the welder grounding cables directly to the
work piece being welded.

Always use the proper lifting tackle (1) when transporting the engine.
