Operation Manual

Displaying video via low bandwidth
Main window
You can play back the recordings of a camera or view live images of a camera with
Operator Client even if you have a low bandwidth network connection between Bosch VMS
and your Operator Client computer. For using low bandwidth networks, the VRM must be
equipped with at least one transcoding device. This transcoding device is not configured in
Bosch VMS. See the VRM documentation on how to configure a transcoding device.
Each transcoding device allows for transcoding 1 stream. For each additional stream you need
another transcoding device.
Transcoding is possible only for BVIP cameras connected to a VRM.
To enable transcoding:
4 In the Logical Tree, right-click the desired camera and click Enable transcoding.
P This camera shows transcoded video when you drag the camera to an Image pane.
In the toolbar of this Image pane, the
icon is displayed.
If all transcoding devices managed by the responsible VRM are already in use and an
additional transcoding video is requested, the Image pane stays black. The title bar of the
Image pane displays the following text: Transcoder not available
To disable transcoding:
4 In the Logical Tree, right-click the desired camera and click Disable transcoding.
P This camera shows untranscoded video when you drag the camera to an Image pane.
The
icon disappears.
If the affected camera is already displayed in an Image pane, it continues displaying
transcoded video until you close this Image pane.
Using TCP for reliable connection
Main window >
For each BVIP camera in your system you can establish a more reliable connection if required.
This can be useful if you have for example connection losses due to high network load. You
enable TCP for a more reliable connection.
To enable TCP:
4 In the Logical Tree, right-click a camera and click Enable TCP.
P The connection to the camera is now established via TCP. The context menu entry of this
camera changes to Disable TCP .
This setting is not changed until you select the Disable TCP context menu command for
this camera.
