Storage medium
You can record the images from the cameras connected to the VIP X1600 mod-
ule in the RAM memory of the unit or in an appropriately configured iSCSI stor-
age device.
Local RAM memory is suitable for short-term recordings and pre-alarm record-
ings in Ring mode operation.
For long-term, authoritative images, it is essential that you use appropriately
sized iSCSI storage.
Type:
Select the desired storage medium to subsequently configure the recording
parameters.
If you select RAM storage as the storage medium, the recording is started using
Profile 8 immediately after clicking the Set button. You can modify the settings
of the relevant profile on the page MPEG-4 encoder (see page 41). First, how-
ever, you have to set the Type to
Off to stop all running recordings.
The preconfigured setting for Profile 8 is: continuous ring recording with 8 MB
storage size per channel and approx. 1 image per second in CIF format.
Caution
If you switch the storage medium from iSCSI server to RAM recording,
the settings on the page iSCSI settings will be lost and can only be re-
stored by reconfiguring them.
