WELCOME Thank you Thank you for choosing a CineMate® 1 SR digital home theater speaker system for your home. It delivers superb acoustic performance in a stylish package that will greatly enhance your home theater experience. Please play the DVD Before you start following the step-by-step setup instructions in this guide, we recommend playing the setup overview on the included DVD disc. This will show you how easy it is to set up your new system.
WELCOME Source connections to your TV Please be sure that all your sources, such as a cable/satellite set-top box or a DVD player, have both a video and an audio connection to your TV. • If you are connecting a source to your TV using an HDMI™ cable, there is no need for additional connections. The HDMI™ cable carries audio and video information.

If you wish to do this, contact Bose to purchase the WB-135 Wall Mount Kit.
SYSTEM SETUP Putting the system together Note: The CineMate® 1 SR system uses the reflective surfaces of your room to deliver wide, spacious sound. For best sound quality, the speaker array should not be placed inside a cabinet, or diagonally in a corner. Note: To avoid wireless interference, keep other wireless equipment, such as wireless computer network routers, cordless phones, microwave ovens, or other WIFI-enabled audio/video devices away from the speaker array and Acoustimass® module.
SYSTEM SETUP B. Plug one end of the selected audio cable into the corresponding audio output connector on your TV. Note: If you are using an optical cable, be sure to remove the protective cover from the plug. When inserting the plug into the connector, make sure it is pushed in all the way. You may sense a slight resistance before you feel it click into place. C. Lay the speaker array grille-side down on the table in front of your TV and locate the TV input connections.
SYSTEM SETUP Step 2: Connect source audio to the AUX input What you need for this step: OR Optical digital cable Coaxial digital cable Note: If you currently have audio/video sources such as a cable/satellite set-top box and a DVD player connected to your TV, do not disconnect them. The audio output from the source should be connected to the TV and to the CineMate 1 SR speaker array. Refer to “Product overview” on page 6. A.
SYSTEM SETUP Step 3: Connect a power cord to the speaker array What you need for this step: Power cord Plug the small end of the power cord into the connector labeled Power. Note: Do not plug the power cord into an AC power outlet at this time. You will be instructed to do this later in the setup process.
SYSTEM SETUP Step 4: Route the cables A. Arrange the cables as needed for your setup location. B. OPTIONAL: Secure cables under the clips in the channel running along the length of the speaker array.
SYSTEM SETUP Step 5: Position the speaker array What you need for this step: OPTIONAL: Speaker array extension feet CAUTION: The speaker array must be placed on a solid flat surface. For proper support, all of the feet on the bottom of the speaker array must be resting on the table top. A. Turn the speaker array over and place it in front of your TV with the speaker grille facing into the room.
SYSTEM SETUP Step 6: Set up the Acoustimass® module What you need for this step: Acoustimass module Rubber feet Power cord CAUTION: Choose a stable and level surface for the Acoustimass module. Vibration can cause the speaker to move, particularly on smooth surfaces like marble, glass, or highly polished wood. A. When placing the Acoustimass® module on bare floors, or other smooth surfaces, attach the included rubber feet to the bottom of the module for greater stability and to protect your floor.
SYSTEM SETUP D. Place the Acoustimass module according to the following guidelines: • For best sound quality, stand the Acoustimass module on its feet along the same wall as your TV, or along any other wall in the front third of the room. • The front opening of the module can face any direction. • Make sure there is an AC outlet nearby. CAUTION: Do not operate the Acoustimass module on its front end, back end, side, or top.
SYSTEM SETUP First time startup Step 1: Install the remote batteries What you need for this step: Remote control (2) AA (IEC LR6) batteries A. Slide the battery cover off the back of the remote control. AA (IEC LR6) batteries (2) Battery cover B. Install the two provided AA (IEC LR6) batteries, matching the plus and minus ends of the batteries to the polarity markings inside the battery compartment. C. Slide the battery cover on until it snaps into place. Step 2: Run the ADAPTiQ® calibration.
SYSTEM SETUP A. Point the remote at the speaker array and press the system power button. B. Check that the power indicator on the speaker array is on (white), indicating the system is on, and that the status indicator is off. Status Power If the Status indicator is blinking orange: • There is no wireless connection between the speaker array and the Acoustimass® module. • See the Troubleshooting table in the back of the operating guide and follow the instructions for correcting the problem of “No Sound.
SYSTEM SETUP F. Follow the audible instructions given to you by the system. Note: After hearing the language prompt in English, you can press the ADAPTiQ button to select another language. Then press the volume up button to continue. Note: After you select your language and press the volume up button to continue, you can go back to the beginning of the process at any time by pressing the ADAPTiQ button. G.

CONTROLS AND INDICATORS Universal remote control The CineMate® 1 SR system includes a universal remote that can be programmed to control your TV, DVD or Blu-ray Disc™ player, cable/satellite box, and VCR. With this universal remote, you can enjoy the convenience of using only one remote control for all your home theater equipment. Basic functions Turning the system on and off The system power button turns the CineMate 1 SR system on or off.
CONTROLS AND INDICATORS 3. Press and hold until all five source buttons Source buttons light. The remote is now in the setup mode. 4. Press . Only this button will remain lit. Source power buttons 5. On the number keypad, enter the device code for your brand of TV. The TV source button ( ) should blink twice and then turn off. Note: If all five source buttons flash rapidly three times, the code was invalid. Go back to Step 1 and try another code. 6. Point the remote at your TV and press TV power.

CONTROLLING SOURCES Changing the source control mode You can easily switch control from one source to another by pressing the appropriate source button at the top of the remote. In addition to controlling the selected source, the remote will always control the basic speaker functions (on/off, volume, mute) of your CineMate® 1 SR system. To control a source: 1. Press the power button ( ) for the source you want to turn on. 2. Press the button for the source you want to control.
CONTROLLING SOURCES Watching TV To watch TV using your cable/satellite set-top box: 1. Press the TV power button to turn on your TV. TV power 2. Press the TV Input button to select the correct input on your TV. 3. Press the CBL-SAT power button to turn on your cable/satellite set-top box. CBL-SAT power 4. Press the CBL-SAT source button to switch to cable/satellite mode. CBL-SAT source The CBL-SAT button flashes to verify that the remote is in the CBL-SAT mode. 5.
CONTROLLING SOURCES To watch TV using the tuner in your TV: 1. Press the TV power button to turn on your TV. TV power 2. Press the TV Input button to select the correct input on your TV. 3. Press the TV source button to switch to the TV mode (the TV button will flash). TV source 4. Select a channel. Watching a DVD or Blu-Ray™ disc 1. Press the TV power button to turn on your TV. TV power 2. Press the TV Input button to select the correct input on your TV. 3.
CONTROLLING SOURCES Navigating on-screen menus and guides The menu and program selection buttons will control only one source at a time. Select the source you want to use first. Note: If some navigation functions are not working for a particular source, try programming a different device code into the remote.
CONTROLLING SOURCES Using playback controls The functionality of the source playback buttons may vary depending on the type and brand of your device. For more information, see the owner’s guide that came with your device.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE Troubleshooting Problem No sound What to do • Make sure the CineMate® system is turned on and that the speaker array power indicator is on (solid white). • Make sure the CineMate system is not muted. • Increase the volume. • Verify the wireless connection between the speaker array and the Acoustimass® module: • Press the ADAPTiQ® button behind the sliding cover on the end of the speaker array.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE Problem Remote control is inconsistent or does not work What to do • Check the battery to be sure it is installed properly or needs to be replaced. See “Replacing the remote batteries” on page 14. • Point the remote control at the device you want to control. • Check that the remote button for the selected source flashes when you press the volume button. • Check that the power indicator on the speaker array flashes when you press the remote volume or mute button.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE Pairing the Acoustimass® module with the speaker array Your speaker array and Acoustimass module are paired at the factory. However, should you ever need to pair them for any reason, do the following: 1. Unplug the Acoustimass module AC power cord. 2. Remove the door on the end of the speaker array. 3. Press and hold the ADAPTiQ® button for 3-4 seconds until the status indicator starts slowly blinking orange. 4. Plug the Acoustimass module AC power cord in the AC outlet.

Limited warranty Your CineMate® 1 SR system is covered by a limited warranty. Details of the limited warranty are provided on the product registration card that is included in the carton. Please refer to the card for instructions on how to register. Failure to register will not affect your limited warranty rights.
