Footswitch/Remote Switch Activator (Membrane Control Panel):
A footswitch or a remote switch activator may be added to any system by simply plugging in an activation
accessory into the appropriate jack on the side of the unit. When the footswitch is plugged in, the unit may be
turned on or off by depressing the footswitch pedal once for each operation. For footswitching operation, the power
switch on the membrane control panel should be in the ON position. For directions on using the Remote Switch
Activator, please see instructions that accompany that product.
Filter-life Indicator (Membrane Control Panel):
The filter-life indicator on the membrane control panel provides a visual indication of the status of the life of the
filter in use. The filter life for the smoke evacuator system is 18 hours.
The filter life status resets automatically each time a new filter is installed.
Reading the Filter-life Indicator:
Install a SF18 filter into the system per the installation instructions contained in this users guide. When the system
is turned on the filter-life indicator will light up all the GREEN 100%. This indicates full filter life. The indicator
will progress to red indicators only as the life of the filter is exhausted. After the appropriate time has elapsed, the
RED LED indicator will start blinking to indicate that the filter has expended its useful life and requires replace-
ment.
The evacuator's filter life is factory set. When the maximum filter life is consumed and the smoke evacuator is in
standby (suction motor off) for greater than six (6) hours or the main power is switched off - a new filter is required
to activate the smoke evacuator and make it operational.
Fuses (Side Panel):
Two 10-AMP fuses (8-AMP for international systems) are located on the side of the system. It electrically protects
both the system and the operator from damage or injury. If the system is overheated or if there is an electrical surge
in the electrical system, the fuses will blow and the system will not operate. To restart the system, replace the fuses.
SF18 Filter Instructions:
Before installing or removing any filter, be sure that the system is turned off and the electrical plug has been
disconnected.
Filter Installation Instructions:
NOTICE:
For proper filter reset and evacuator startup, use only SF18 Filter with lot number ending with
an “R.”
The installation of the SF18 filter into the smoke evacuator system is quick and simple:
1. Remove the SF18 filter from the shipping box and discard any protective wrapping. Examine all filters for
damage during shipping and storage. Do not install any filter with visible signs of structural damage.
2. Insert the SF18 filter into the filter receptacle. Be sure that the filter is seated completely against the bottom of
the filter chamber. The filter life remaining will automatically reset.
WARNING:
This device is not intended for evacuation of fluid. If fluid is expected to be aspirated using the
SF18 filter or the smoke evacuator system, fluid collection devices must be installed with the
vacuum hose assembly. Failure to install a fluid collection device may cause filter blockage
and/or electrical damage.
