Explosive Breaching Stand Operation Your new breaching stand has been designed to simulate an inwardly opening door for forced entry training utilizing Explosive Charges. This door may be mounted in a structure such as a training or live fire facility, or may be utilized with the included freestanding leg kit. Upper Frame Clamp Hinge Bar Mounting Ear Frame Lock Bracket Hinge Clamps Lock Clamp Four Leg Kit Mounting Brackets are on the back of the frame.
The BTI Explosive Breaching Stand is designed to hold the target door. At no time should the explosives come in direct contact with the metal frame or any of the metal components holding the door. The frame is designed to withstand standard explosive door charges. This means that any reasonable door charge that would defeat a two inch solid core wood door or a light metal door can be used. Set-Up Attach the Freestanding Leg Kit per the instructions on the following page.
Loosen all “T” handle clamps. Slide the Hinge Bar to the far right position. Move door into position and insert into lock bracket.
Block up the door or have an assistant lift the door so there is about 2” clearance below the door. Tighten the lock clamp. Slide the Hinge Bar over and position the clamps onto the door.
Tighten hinge clamps. Securely tighten frame clamps. A box end wrench may be used to ensure that clamps are tight.
Ready to breach. Hinge clamp and lock clamp “T” handles are on the inside to prevent them from getting caught on clothing or gear during entry.
Door swings inward – swinging outward will cause interference with the lower frame clamp.
Breaching The Door. Your new breaching door has been engineered to simulate scenarios for forced entry training utilizing explosives. Explosives The BTI Explosive Breaching Stand is designed to withstand standard explosive door charges. This means that any reasonable door charge that would defeat a 2 inch solid core wood door or a light metal door can be used. Explosives should be placed at least 2 inches away form any metal surface area.
Remember that when a detonation occurs, the material used to push the door open is deformed and fragments at a very high velocity. It is therefore recommended that shields, ballistic vests, ear and eye protection always be used. If shields are not practical or if they are not part of your standard operating procedures then safe stand-off distances should always be observed.
WALL INSTALLATION A 1. Insert Breaching Stand into 48” x 85” opening. 2. Breaching Stand is then secured with customer supplied 1/4” lag bolts or similar means utilizing the 8 – 1/4” mounting holes (A) provided.
