connectorandchimneyshouldbeinspectedbya
qualifiedservicepersonbeforetheheatingseason,
andatleastonceamonthduringtheheatingseason
todetermineifacreosotebuild‐uphadoccurred.

Duetohighsurfacetemperatures,theW3100FSand
W3100Ishouldbelocatedoutoftrafficareasand
awayfromfurnitureanddraperies.
Childrenandadultsshouldbealertedtothehazards
ofhighsurfacetemperaturesandshouldstayawayto
avoidburnsorclothingignition.Youngchildren should
becarefully
supervisedwhentheyareinthesame
roomastheheater.
Iftheblowercoverplate(W3100FS)ortheoptional
blowerassemblyhavebeenremovedforservice,they
mustbereplacedpriortooperatingtheheater.
WARNING:DONOTOPERATEHEATERWITHTHE
GLASSPANELREMOVED,CRACKEDORBROKEN.
REPLACEMENT
OFTHEPANELSHOULDBEDONEBYA
LICENSEDORQUALIFIEDSERVICEPERSON.

provided,andthattheyarenotobstructed.
CREOSOTE–FORMATIONANDNEEDFORREMOVAL
Whenwoodisburnedslowly,itproducestarand
otherorganicvapors,whichcombinewith
expelled
moisturetoformcreosote.Thecreosotevapors
condenseintherelativelycoolchimneyflueofaslow‐
burningfire.Asaresult,cr eosoteresidueaccumulates
onthefluelining.Whenignited,thiscreosotemakes
anextremelyhotfire,whichmaydamagethechimney
orevencauseahousefire.In
theeventofachimney
fire,CALLTHEFIREDEPARTMENTIMMEDIATELY.
Chimney Cleaning & Inspection
Before each heating season the entire chimney system, combustion chamber, and fireplace should be
professionally inspected, cleaned and, if necessary, repaired. The chimney connector and chimney should be
inspectedatleastonceamonthduringtheheatingseasontodetermineifcreosotebuild‐uphasoccurred.The
chimneysystemshouldbe
inspectedatthechimneyconnectorandatthechimneytop.Coolersurfacestendto
buildcreosotedepositsquicker,soitisimportanttocheckthechimneyfromthetopaswellasfromthebottom.
Ifcreosotehasaccumulat ed itshould beremovedtoreducetheriskofachimney
fire.Thecreosote shouldbe
removed with a brush specifically designed for the type of chimney in use. A qualified chimney sweep can
performthisservice.
NOTE:Forinsertinstallationsitwillbenecessarytoremovetheinsertforproperinspectionandcleaning.
