INSTALLATION
Itisextremelyimportantthatyouproperlyinstallyournewwoodstoveinaccordancewithallmanufacturer’s
requirements,chimneymanufacturer’srequirements,andlocalregulation.Failuretoproperlyinstallyourstove
canresultinreducedefficiencyofyournewappliance,andmayevenresultinadangeroussituation.
Thereareseveral
thingstokeepinmindwheninstallingyourstove.Theyare:
1. PlanYourInstallation–WerecommendthatyouhaveanauthorizedBreckwellDealerperformthe
installation.However,regardlessofwhoinstallsyourstoveyoushouldthoroughlyreadthismanualand
thenplanyourinstallationtoensurethatallmaterials
areonhandwheninstallationisbegun.
2. CheckWithLocalBuildingOfficials–Yourlocalbuildingofficialsmayrequirepermittingorhavespecial
installationrequirements.Havingthisinformationtohelpyourplanningcansavealotoftime,
frustration,andexpense.Youshouldalsonotifyyourinsurancecompanyprior
toinstallation.
3. StovePlacement–Thestovemustbeplacedsothatnocombustiblesarewithin,orcanswingwithin
(e.g.drapes,doors,etc.)36”ofthefrontofthestove.
4. Clearances–Allspecifiedclearancestocombustiblesmustbemai ntained.Measurementsprovidedare
theminimum safedistancesand
shouldnotbecompromised.
5. ChimneyTermination–Youmusthaveanapprovedcaptopreventwaterfromenteringchimney.
Terminationofchimneymustbelocatedsothatitwillnotbecomepluggedbysnoworothermaterial.
Theterminationmustbeatleast3’abovetheroofand
atleast2’aboveanyportionoftheroofwithin
10’.Seediagrambelow.
6. OutsideAirRequirements–Theuseofoutsideairisrequiredformobilehomes,airtight homes,andin
certainlocalities(checkwithbuildingofficials).Outsideaircannotbedrawnfromanenclosedspace
such
asagarageorunventilatedcrawl space.
7. CeilingHeight–Ceilingmustbeaminimumof7’highforinstallationofstove.
8. InsertInstallations–Asaninsertthisstoveisapprovedforinstallationinmasonryorzeroclearance
fireplaces.Thehearthmustbenon‐combustibleandextend16”
infrontoftheinsertand8”oneither
side.SeethesectiontitledInsertInstallationsforadditionalinformation.
9. DraftingPerformance– Thisappliancerelies uponnaturaldrafttooperate.Externalforcessuchas
wind,barometricpressure,topography,orfactorsofthehomemayadverselyaffectdraft.Breckwell
cannot
beresponsibleforexternalforcesleadingtolessthanoptimalperformance.
