Bathing Fixture Installation Care & Cleaning
CAUTION: Your new bathing fixture has a durable porcelain finish; however, exercise care during installation
by placing a blanket and the carton cutout in the bottom of the fixture to help prevent damage. Rough handling,
dropped tools, and ladders may cause damage. Do not drop or hit the fixture on hard objects, push forcefully
against the apron, or stand ladders in the fixture. Always remove shoes before entering the fixture.
1. Thoroughly inspect the product and report any damage to the supplier, requesting their advice before
continuing installation. After measuring product dimensions, frame the construction area.
2. Temporarily position fixture in place, making sure the noise-absorbing/leveling pad (if equipped) is
completely supported. Mark the joist so a 2”x 4” stringer can be nailed in place. This stringer will be
attached to the stud wall to support the fixture under the tiling flange. If necessary (where existing floor is
not flat or level), use wood shims or a leveling compound (mortar base) to achieve flat level installation with
noise-absorbing/levelling pad (if equipped) supported.
3. With product removed, nail the 2”x 4” stringer in place. For steel stud construction, use self-tapping screws
with flat washers. If a levelling compound (mortar base) is necessary to support the levelling pad, it should
be applied just before final fit.
4. Attach drain & overflow assembly (not included) to the fixture according to manufacturer’s specifications.
Create the mortar base (if necessary), then re-position the product into place for final fit ensuring level front
to back and left to right. Secure the fixture to wall studs by overlapping the tiling flange with large-head
galvanized roofing nails or flat-head screws and washers.
5. Connect drain & overflow assembly to plumbing drain, faucet and showerhead to manufacturers
specifications. Over-tightening these fixtures may cause damage. Use caulk to seal the gap between apron
and floor. Wall surround (tile or other) should be installed afterward, overlapping the tiling flange, then seal
with caulk.
CARE AND CLEANING
Clean with warm water, mild detergent, and soft cloth or nylon brush. Never use abrasive scouring powders or
scrub pads. For stubborn stains, steel stud/self-tapping screw construction, and especially where construction
tools were washed in the fixture, or it was used as a trash receptacle during construction - the use of an oxalic-
acid cleanser (like Bar Keeper’s Friend or Zud) and a stiff nylon brush is recommended. Surface rust from
metal debris will continue to re-appear until properly cleaned. Thoroughly brush and rinse debris out of the slip-
resistant areas.
