You can adjust the volume during a call by pressing
S left or right. To mute a call, press Option > Mute.
emergency calls
To call an emergency number, enter the emergency
number and press
N.
Your service provider programs emergency phone
numbers (such as 112 or 911) that you can call under
any circumstances, even when your phone is locked.
Emergency numbers vary by country. Your phone’s
pre-programmed emergency number(s) may not work
in all locations, and sometimes an emergency call
cannot be placed due to network, environmental, or
interference issues.

During a call, press Option to access the in-call menu.
From here you can mute the call, use the
speakerphone, write a message or look up contacts.
go handsfree
You can use your phone’s handsfree speaker to make
calls without holding the phone to your ear. To t u rn
the speaker on, during a call, press Option > Handsfree. To
turn the speaker off, press Option > Handsfree off.
You can also use an optional 2.5 mm wired headset to
go handsfree.
Note: The send/end key on wired headsets is not
supported on this phone. Use the
N and P keys
on the phone to answer and end calls.

Restrict outgoing or incoming calls:

When prompted, enter the unlock code (supplied
by your service provider) and press OK.

1 Plug a 2.5 mm headset into your phone.
Note: The FM radio only works when the headset
is plugged in.
2 Press Menu > f Extras > FM.
To turn the radio on/off, press
s.
To tune in a station, press
S left or right.
To scan available stations, press and hold
S left or
right. Repeat to go to more stations.
To adjust volume, press
S up or down.
To hide the radio, press Back.

When listening to the radio, press Option and select
Channel list to view and edit your preset stations, select
Manual input to enter a station or select Auto search to search
for stations and populate the list. To select a preset
station, press the number key for the station you
want.

transfer your contacts
If you want to transfer your contacts from your old
phone to your new phone, simply save all your
contacts to your SIM card on your old phone. When
you put the SIM card into your new phone, the
contacts will all be in your phonebook.
Note: W165 & W172 only store basic contact details
(name and number). Other details may be lost and
multiple numbers may be stored as multiple contacts.

You can set up to eight phone numbers that you can
call with a single key press.
Note: Speed dial
1 is reserved for voicemail.
To set a speed dial phone number:

n Phonebook > Speed dial
To call a speed dial phone number, press and hold the
single-digit number from the home screen.

When you receive a new message, a notification
appears. Press Select to read the message immediately,
or press Cancel to save it to your inbox for viewing later.

When entering text, press # to switch text entry
modes:

more times to cycle through the letters and
numbers of the key you press. When you’ve got
the character you want, just press another key or
wait a second or two to move on.
eZi English ( )—Predictive text. Combines
single key presses and predicts each word as you
enter it. Just press each key once for each

character. For example, to enter home, press
4663. Press S up or down to scroll
through the possible words, press
* to change
capitalization.

to enter numbers.

When entering text, press
0 to enter a space and

To set your default text entry mode: press

Find it: Menu > ? Office Tools > Calendar
Scroll to the day you want and press
s. Select
Add appointment to add an event or select View to see events
for that day.
When an event reminder occurs, press Ok to dismiss
it.
Tip: To see a summary of your calendar events and
add, edit or delete events, you can also use the to do
list - press Menu >
? Office Tools > To do list.
