Plug one end of the handset cord into the handset socket and the other end into the socket at the end of the base. 2. Plug the telephone line cord into the socket on the underside of the base. Plug the other end into the telephone wall socket.

Replace the handset to end a call. Or Press the hook switch to make a follow on call. Receive a call 1. When you receive a call, the phone will ring and the red Calls light will flash. 2. Pick up the handset to answer the call. Redial 1. Press . The last number called is automatically redialled. Secrecy 1.

A quarterly fee is payable. When you are on a call and another caller is trying to get through, the Call Waiting beep will sound to alert you. 1. Press to put your current call on hold and accept the waiting call. 2. Press two calls.

Never use household polish as this will damage the product. Never use a dry cloth as this may cause a static shock. ■ Do not expose to direct sunlight. ■ Do not stand your product on carpets or other surfaces which generate fibres, or place it in locations preventing the free flow of air over its surfaces.

All items of telephone equipment have a Ringer Equivalence Number (REN), which is used to calculate the number of items which may be connected to any other telephone line. Your BT Duet 20 has a REN of 1. A total REN of 4 is allowed. If the total REN of 4 is exceeded, the telephone may not ring. With different telephone types there is no guarantee of ringing, even when the REN is less than 4.
BT Duet 20 – Issue 2 Edition 01 – 12.02.04 – 5957 11 Technical information Switchboard external line access code When connected to an internal switchboard, you may need to enter an access code (e.g. 9) to get an outside line. So that the switchboard has time to pick up an outside line, you may also need to add a pause after the access code. A ‘pause’ lasts 3.6 seconds. To insert a pause 1. Begin dialling a number and press pause is required.
