6. If your modem is not responding, it may be due to a hardware conflict
between the modem and another peripheral device. To resolve the conflict,
you must change the settings of your modem. For more information, see "How
do I resolve hardware conflicts?" on page B-6.

1. Click Start Settings Control Panel.
2. In the Control Panel window, double-click
the Modems icon.
3. In the Modem Properties dialog box, click
the Diagnostics tab.
4. Select the COM port that has been assigned
to your modem, and click the More Info
button to display the response status of
your modem. You should see a dialog box
similar to Figure 4-6.
5. If your modem is not responding, it may be
due to a hardware conflict between the
modem and another peripheral device. To

settings of your modem. For more
