Base Layer 3 and Routing Protocols
Table 203 lists the individual Brocade FastIron switches and the base Layer 3 features they
support. These features are supported in the base Layer 3, edge Layer 3, and full Layer 3 software
images, except where explicitly noted.
NOTE
ICX 6430 devices does not support Layer 3 features. RIP and OSPF are avaiable as part of Premium
license.
NOTE
Layer 2 with base Layer 3 images provide static RIP support. The device does not learn RIP routes
from other Layer 3 devices. However, the device does advertise directly connected routes and can
be configured to dynamically learn default routes. Brocade recommends that you deploy these
devices only at the edge of your network, because incoming traffic can learn directly connected
routes advertised by the Brocade device, but outgoing traffic to other devices must use statically
configured or default routes.
