The following section states a possible issue and the recommended solution for switch console
errors.
Names troubleshooting
The following section states a possible issue and the recommended solution for names errors.
Problem Resolution
Too many login and log messages received on
switch console and and Master Log due to lazy
polling.
NOTE: This setting cannot be disabled for DCB switches.
To disable lazy polling, complete the following steps.
1Select Discover > IP Products.
The Discover Setup - IP dialog box displays.
2Click the Global Settings tab.
3Click the Preferences tab.
4Clear the Enable lazy polling check box.
5Click Apply to save your work.
6Click Close to close the Discover Setup - IP dialog box.
7Click Yes on the confirmation message.
Problem Resolution
Duplicate name error. If you configured the Management application to only allow unique names and you try to
use a name that already exists in the fabric. You can enter a different name for the device
or search for the duplicate name using one of the following procedures:
“Searching for a device by name” on page 189 in the Configure Names dialog box
“Searching for a device by WWN” on page 190 in the Configure Names dialog box
“Searching for a device” on page 393
