ip igmp snooping enable
Enables Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) snooping for a specific VLAN interface.
Synopsis ip igmp snooping enable
no ip igmp snooping enable
Operands None
Defaults When snooping is enabled globally, IGMP snooping is enabled on all VLAN interfaces.
Command Modes VLAN interface configuration mode
Description Use this command to enable or disable IGMP snooping on a specific VLAN interface.
IGMP snooping allows a network switch to listen in on the IGMP conversation between hosts and
routers. By listening to these conversations, the switch maintains a map of which links need which
IP multicast streams. Multicasts may be filtered from the links which do not need them.
Usage Guidelines Enter no ip igmp snooping enable to disable snooping for a specific VLAN interface.
Examples To enable IGMP for a specific VLAN interface:
switch(config)# interface vlan 1
switch(config-Vlan-1)# ip igmp snooping enable
To disable IGMP for a specific VLAN interface:
switch(config)# interface vlan 1
switch(config-Vlan-1)# no ip igmp snooping enable
