Packet port information table
Packet over SONET (POS) is the serial transmission of data over SONET frames through the use of
the Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP). The POS modules allow direct connection to interfaces within
SONET. POS is a transport technology that encapsulates packet data, such as an IP datagram,
directly into SONET.
The POS modules are available on NetIron Internet Backbone routers and BigIron Layer 3 Switches
with redundant management modules.
The following table presents information about POS ports.
NOTE
The following table is not supported on the Brocade NetIron MLX, Brocade MLXe, Brocade NetIron
XMR, Brocade NetIron CES, and Brocade NetIron CER series devices.
