TACACS Settings tab
The TACACS Settings tab lets you configure the basic settings for a TACACS Server. See Figure 132.

Table 32 describes the TACACS Settings tab controls and their functions.
Providing TACACS settings
Before you create a TACACS server, you must set the following general configuration values. These
apply to all TACACS servers.
To set the general TACACS settings:
1. Select the Configure tab.
2. Click Security in the tab menu bar.
3. From the sidebar, select TACACS.

Control Description
Key Enter a TACACS password key up to 32 characters.
Encryption Select this check box to enable encryption of the key.
Timeout Time delay before the connection times out. (range 1–15 seconds, default is
3seconds)
Retransmit Number of attempts to retransmit connection information. (range 0–5, default is 3)
Dead Time Length of time that the application skips a nonresponsive TACACS server for
transaction requests. (range 1–5 seconds, default is 3 seconds)
VLAN ID Virtual LAN Identifier for this server. (Optional)
Source Interface Source Interface for this server. (Optional)
