INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR BROCK’S PERFORMANCE FZ-09 (14-)

ALIEN HEAD OR SHORTMEG FULL EXHAUST SYSTEM

The Alien Head or ShortMeg System for the FZ-09 (14-) is a high performance 3-into-1

exhaust system that replaces the stock head pipes, catalytic converter, and muffler.

Step 1: Check Package Contents:

The Alien Head or ShortMeg system is shown in (Figure 1).

The Package Contents Include:

1. Three (3) Head Pipe Mounting Flanges

2. One (1) Head Pipe Assembly (3-into-1)

3. One (1) Mid-Pipe

4. One (1) Alien Head or ShortMeg Muffler

5. One (1) Package Containing Springs,

Spring Puller, PAIR Valve Block-Off Cap,

Muffler-Mounting Bracket and

Required Hardware

6. One (1) Tube of Permatex™ Ultra

Copper® Sealant

7. One Packet Containing Instructions and

Supplemental Information

If any of the parts are missing, contact

Brock’s Performance.

Note: A slight ovaling of the tubing can occur

during the manufacturing process, this is

normal. A twisting motion may be required

during assembly/disassembly.

Step 2:!Pre-Assemble Head Pipe and

Mid-Pipe to Ensure a Proper Fit

Between All Parts: The pre-assembled

system is shown in (Figure 2). Pre-assembly helps

to detect any potential shipping damage and

ensures that all parts fit properly. Apply WD-40®

to the pipe joints to ease assembly, adjustment

and especially disassembly.

Document ID 996525 Step 3: Remove the OEM Exhaust System: Start by removing the O2 sensor from the OEM head pipe (Location 1) shown in (Figure 3). Next you will loosen the nuts on all three head pipes (Location 2) shown in (Figure 3), but do not completely remove. The muffler/catalytic converter has two bolts holding it in place. Remove the two bolts (one on each side) (Location 3) shown in (Figure 3) and then finish removing the head pipe nuts.

DO NOT START BIKE UNTIL YOU HAVE ENSURED A MINIMUM ¼-INCH CLEARANCE BETW EEN THE EXHAUST COMPONENTSAND ALL BODYW ORK/PARTS. Failure to ensure proper clearance may result in burned plastic. Brock’s Performance exhaust systems are designed to provide appropriate clearances. If minimum clearances are not obtained, remove the springs on the exhaust system and adjust until proper clearance is achieved.
