Document Specifications Loading Capacity 2 The number of sheets that can be loaded in the Paper Guides is determined by the paper size and paper weight. See the graph below.
Document Specifications Area Not to be Perforated 2 An error may occur if your document has punched holes in the area shaded in light blue in the following figure: 2 Reference point 35 40 Top Front side Feed direction Bottom Centre (Unit: mm) NOTE The above condition applies when the document is set in the centre of the pick-up roller.
Document Specifications Conditions for Multifeed Detection 2 Multifeed is an error where two or more sheets are fed through the ADF at once. It is also called a multifeed when a different document length is detected. 2 Multifeed detection is performed by either checking the overlapping of documents, length of the documents, or the combination of both. The following conditions are required for an accurate detection.
Document Specifications Paper size When you scan a mixed batch with different sizes, not feeding the documents straight may cause problems, such as paper jams or part of the image to appear missing. We recommend checking the documents thoroughly before scanning and also checking the image if the document was skewed. IMPORTANT When scanning a mixed batch with different sizes, documents are more likely to skew because the paper guides do not contact every sheet.
Document Specifications Carrier Sheet Recommendations 2 Documents with a carbon sheet attached Documents written in pencil 2 Documents narrower than 51 mm Documents shorter than 70 mm Pages thinner than 0.
3 Scan Preparation Set Up Your Scanner 3 3 Pull the Output Tray and the Extendable Automatic Document Feeder out of the machine. Carefully position the Output Tray. NOTE • Load only one document at a time. • Support the document with your hand if the document is longer than the extended ADF.
Scan Preparation Documents Not Printed on Standard-size Paper 3 Make sure documents with ink or correction fluid are completely dry. 1 Fold your document in half and insert it into the Carrier Sheet. 3 NOTE Set the document in the centre of the Carrier Sheet and align the top of the document with the top of the Carrier Sheet. 2 Adjust the Paper Guides 1 to fit the width of the Carrier Sheet.
Scan Preparation 3 Place the Carrier Sheet in the ADF between the Guides until you feel it touch the inside of the machine. NOTE To reduce the white space in the centre of a scanned page, position the folded edge of the original document close to the edge of the Carrier Sheet. 3 Documents with Facing Pages 3 Follow the steps of Documents Not Printed on Standard-size Paper on page 65.
Scan Preparation NOTE • Set the document in the centre of the Carrier Sheet and align the top of the document with the top of the Carrier Sheet. • If the receipt is longer than the Carrier Sheet, you can fold the receipt in two places so that it overlaps when you insert it into the Carrier Sheet. 3 2 Adjust the Paper Guides 1 to fit the width of the Carrier Sheet. 1 3 Place the Carrier Sheet in the ADF between the Guides until you feel it touch the inside of the machine.
