7 Troubleshooting 7 Overview 7 If you have any problems with the printer, first make sure that you have performed the following tasks correctly. Is power being supplied to the printer by the AC adapter or rechargeable Li-ion battery (optional)? See Connecting to an AC Power Socket on page 3 or Using the Rechargeable Li-ion Battery/Battery Base (Optional:PA-BT-4000LI/PA-BB-001) (TD-2120N/2130N only) on page 111.
Chapter 7 Problem The indicators show that the printer is cooling. Solution The print head or motor is too hot. Print head: If the print head becomes too hot, it may produce imaging on the paper in areas not intended to be printed. This condition is normal when printing a large number of documents with a high print density. The printer will stop, then resume printing after the print head has cooled down.
Troubleshooting Problem Media is not fed correctly. Solution Is the print head or platen roller dirty? Although the print head generally remains clean under normal use, dust or dirt from the platen roller may become stuck to the print head. If this occurs, clean the print head or platen roller. For details, see Print Head Maintenance or Platen Roller Maintenance on page 51. Are the sensors in the correct position? Check that the sensors are correctly positioned.
Chapter 7 Problem Media is jammed. Media is not ejected correctly after printing. Solution Is there dust or dirt on the print head or platen roller preventing it from turning freely? For details, see Print Head Maintenance or Platen Roller Maintenance on page 51. Check that the media exit path is not blocked. Is there adhesive on the media exit, or has a media misfeed occurred? For details, see Media Exit Maintenance on page 52. Remove the RD Roll, and then reinstall it.
Troubleshooting Problem Solution Printed barcodes cannot be read. (continued) Windows® XP: To display the [Quality] options, open the printer properties by clicking [Start] - [Control Panel] - [Printers and Other Hardware] - [Printers and Faxes], right-clicking the printer whose settings are to be changed, then clicking [Printing Preferences].
Chapter 7 Problem Solution Even though data is being sent to the printer, the POWER indicator is not blinking in green. Make sure that the USB cable is connected firmly and correctly. Try using another USB cable. The labels are not being peeled off correctly (when using the optional label peeler). If a connection is being made using the WLAN interface (optional) or Bluetooth interface (optional), check that the slide switch for each unit has been turned on.
Troubleshooting If the STATUS indicator was blinking in red 7 If the STATUS indicator was blinking in red, perform the following procedures to clear the error. Press the (Power) button once. If the error is still not cleared, turn the printer off, then on again. If the error appears, even after performing the procedures described above, contact Brother customer service. Problem The STATUS indicator is blinking. Solution An error occurred.
Chapter 7 Problem The indicators show that error 1 has occurred. (continued) Solution If the error still occurs, check for the following: Tape exceeding 1 m or incompatible files cannot be printed. When sending a template as a BLF file, an error is indicated if the model name in the file is different. When printing a template, an error is indicated if the specified template does not exist. An error is indicated if the search of a template with a linked database fails.
Troubleshooting Error Messages for Touch Panel Display (Optional) (TD-2120N/2130N Only) 7 If an error message appears on the LCD of the touch panel display (optional) (TD-2120N/2130N only), check for a solution in the following table. To clear an error message that appeared, perform the following procedures. If the STATUS indicator on the printer is blinking in red: Press the (Power) button once. If the error is still not cleared, turn the printer off, then on again.
Chapter 7 Error message Solution No Template Selected! There is no template with the specified number. Specify a correct number. Setting Wireless LAN Unsuccessful! Using the Rechargeable Li-ion Battery/Battery Base (Optional:PA-BT-4000LI/PA-BB-001) b Tips on Using the Rechargeable Li-ion Battery Use the AC adapter and AC power cord to connect the printer to an AC power socket. 14 Charge the rechargeable Li-ion battery as soon as possible after it is purchased. Since the battery is sold with the minimum charge necessary, the initial charge may have been depleted. To prevent deterioration, we recommend charging the battery immediately.
Chapter 14 Rechargeable Li-ion Battery Characteristics 14 Understanding the properties of the rechargeable Li-ion battery will allow you to optimise its usage. Using or storing the rechargeable Li-ion battery in a location exposed to high or low temperatures may accelerate its deterioration. In particular, using a rechargeable Li-ion battery with a high charge (charged 90% or more) in a location exposed to high temperatures will considerably accelerate battery deterioration.
