Component Description
Display 4X20 character LCD display (backlit)
Keyboard 8 key membrane keypad
Printer On Board thermal printer
Power Switch Switch that turns the BT-610 on or off (up for on).
Charger Jack Input jack for the battery charger. This jack charges the internal
battery pack and provides continuous operating power for the unit.
Inlet Nozzle Ambient air inlet nozzle. Connect isokinetic probe to reduce
turbulence in the air sample.
T/RH Connector Mating connector for the optional external Temperature/RH sensor.
USB I/O USB communication port
USB Drive Export sample data to USB memory stick
RS-232 Serial Port Connection used for serial communication
RS-485 Serial Port Connection used for long distances (4,000 feet) or multi-drop (32
units)
Analog out Two analog output channels (0-5V = 0 – FS Counts). FS (Full Scale)
is settable from 0 to 9,999,999 counts.

2.4. Initial Operation
Before operating the BT-610 for the first time, it is recommended that the unit be fully
charged. Information regarding battery charging is found in Section 7. Complete the
following steps to verify proper operation.
1. Press the top of the power switch to turn on power.
2. Observe the Startup Screen for 2 seconds then the Operate Screen (Section 4.2)
3. Press Start / Stop key. The BT-610 will sample for 1 minute and stop.
4. Observe the counts on the display
5. Use the up / down arrows to view other sizes
