HDPC® Rigid Core Vinyl - InstallaƟŽŶ Guide

HDPC® is a rigid waterproof High Density PlasƟĐomposite ŇŽoring with patent pending teĐhnology that uses no

adhesive to bond the vinyl layers together and features the patented UnŝĐlŝĐand Unipush systems and is installed as a glueless

ŇŽaƟng Ňoor. The inƚĞƌůŽĐŬŝng planŬs loĐŬ together to provide a ƟŐŚt water resistant seam, ĐĂn be installed over most ŇŽor surfĂĐĞs,

and is suitable for both residenƟal and light ĐŽŵmeƌĐŝĂůinterior appliĐaƟŽns.

General InformaƟon

1. Flooring should be transported and stored in a neatly staĐŬed fashion on a smooth ŇĂt surfĂĐĞ Be sure to

InspeĐƚthe run numbers/produĐƟon dates on the boxes as diīerent runs may be slightly diīerent, onĐe installed it

beĐŽŵes the installers responsibility. PuƌĐhase enough material to do at least 105% of theĐovered area.

2. Maintain a ĐŽnstant temperature between 60° and 85°F (18.33° and 29.44°C) before, during, and ĂŌĞƌŝnstallaƟŽn.

3. ĐĐlimaƟŽn is ideal, but not requ

ired; ŇŽoring should be stored in the areas that it is going to be installed in for a minimal

24 hours to assure equilibrium.

4. HDPC Vinyl PlanŬs should only be installed aŌĞƌother trades haveĮnished and the jobsite has beenĐůeaned and Đůeared of

debris thatĐould potenƟally damage aĮnished installaƟŽn.

5. No addŝƟonal padding is required as there is an aƩĂĐhed padding to the bĂĐŬ of the planŬs.

6. InspeĐƚ ŇŽoring for damage, defeĐƚs, or shading issues before installa

ƟŽnĐůĂŝms for visual defeĐƚs will not be aĐĐepted

ĂŌĞƌĐuƫng and/or installed.

7. Mix and install planŬs from several diīerent ĐĂƌtons during installaƟŽŶ to ensure a random appearanĐe.

8. Leave 1/4 inĐh gap for expansion around the enƟre perimeter of theŇŽoring.

9. T moldings are reĐommended at all doorways to prevent separaƟŽn or buĐŬůŝng issues due to adjoining rooms.

10. Flooring should be proƚĞĐƚed from direĐƚ exposure to UV light by using shades or blinds when neĐessary.

11. ůůŇŽoring will sĐƌĂtĐh, please beĐauƟous when moving or transpoƌƟng items ĂĐƌoss your ŇŽor as sĐƌĂtĐhes are not a

warranted issue.

Pre-InstallaƟon

SubŇoors:

PlanŬsĐan be installed over a variety of subŇŽor surfĂĐĞs inĐůƵdinŐĐonĐƌete on all grade levels, wood and many other exisƟng hard

surfĂĐĞŇŽors. The subŇŽors must beĐůean, smooth,ŇĂt, solid (no movement), and dry. Do not install planks over Ňoors that are

sloped for drainage. Any uneven areas greater than 3/16” in a 10 foot radius should be leveled with a Portland Đement based

patĐhinŐĐompound. Wellmade Vinyl PlanŬis impervious to water damage but they do not prevent the transmiss

ion of moisture.

Care should be taŬen to Ŭeep moistureĨƌŽŵĐolleĐƟng on either side of theŇŽoring to prevent the growth of unhealthy mold and

mildew.

Concrete SubŇoors:

PlanŬsĐan be installed over ĐŽnĐƌete on all grade levels; a moisture barrier is reĐŽmmended but not required, and shouldĐonsist of

at least a 6 mil polyethylene Įlm with the sheets overlapping 6” and taped to prevent moisture migraƟng to theŇŽoring. Moisture

vapor emissions should not eǆĐeed 5 lbs./24 hour per 1,000 sq. when

tested with the AnhydrousĂůĐŝum Chloride Test in

aĐĐŽƌdanĐe with ASTM F 1869 or 85% RH in aĐĐŽƌdanĐe with ASTM F 2170 “Standard Test Method for Determining RelaƟ

Humidity in ConĐƌete Slabs using in situ Probes. Any uneven areas greater than 3/16” in a 10 foot radius should be leveled with a

PortlandĐĞment based patĐhinŐĐompound. Holes andĐƌaĐŬs in theĐĞment should be paƚĐhed, and expansion joints should beĮlled

with a latex patĐhinŐĐompound. Newly pouredĐonĐƌete Ňoors must Đure for a minimum of 90 days.

Please note it is the person

installing theŇŽor and/or the homeowner’s responsibility to ensure a smooth substrate and that any moisture or alŬalinity issues

are resolved prior to installing theŇŽor. OnĐe installed, it beĐŽmes the installer’s responsibility.

NOTE: Excessive moisture may cause the growth of unhealthy mold or mildew and/or cause staining of the Ňooring which is not covered by our Warranty. Wood SubŇoors: PlanŬs ĐĂŶ be installed over a smooth, ŇĂt, level wood subŇŽor, underlayment grade plywood, lauan plywood, and other wood underlayment’s reĐŽŵmended by the manufĂĐturer for use with a ŇŽaƟng planŬ ŇŽor. SubŇŽor should be ŇĂt within 3/16” in a 10 foot radius. Wood subŇŽors must be suspended at least 18" above the ground.

Do not secure individual planks to the subŇoor as it is designed to be a ŇoĂƟŶŐ Ňoor. Do not install cabinets on top of Vinyl Plank Ňooring. It is recommended to separate all rooms using T molding, and to separate all rooms larger than 40’ (W) x 40’ (L) using T molding. hammer to loĐŬ the joints together in the last row. Always use a pull bar on the Đut edge of the planŬ. FaĐƚory edges Đan be damaged if the pull bar or hammer is used direĐƚůy against them. 12. When Įƫng around door trim it will be neĐessary to slide the planŬ under the trim. This Đan b e aĐĐŽmplished easily by staƌƟng the row on the side of the room with the door trim and then sliding the planŬ into půĂĐe onĐe it is aƩĂĐhed.

4. 5. Using a sharp uƟůŝƚy Ŭnife, remove the tongue strip on the long end of the repůĂĐement planŬ. In addŝƟon, remove the ĐŽƌner of the groove on the short end of the repůĂĐement planŬ for easier inseƌƟon. PosŝƟon the repůĂĐement planŬ by engaging the groove into the tongue of the adjoining planŬ and wiggle into půĂĐĞ. Use “superglue” or equivalent or latex to hold the repůĂĐement planŬ in půĂĐe with its adjĂĐĞŶt planŬs.
