Care and Maintenance
Care and maintenance of your new Luxury Vinyl Floor is essenƟĂl for long term performance and appearance. Because this is
a low maintenance Ňoor, it will not require waxing or polishing. Please read the following to ensure that your Ňoor will give
you many years of service and maintain its original appearance for as long as possible.
• Use doormats outside the entry doors to your home to prevent grit, sand, and dirt and other substanĐes suĐh as oil, asphalt,
and other ĐŽntami
nates from being traĐŬĞĚ indoors and possibly stain or damage theŇŽoring.
• Do not use rubber-bĂĐŬed, latex-bĂĐŬed, ĐŽĐo Įber mats, or area rugs on yourŇŽoring, as some types of bĂĐŬingsĐan stain
or sĐƌĂtĐh theŇŽor.
• UseŇŽor proƚĞĐƚŽƌs (felt pads reĐŽmmended) under heavy furniture to spread the weight and help to prevent sĐƌĂtĐhes
and dents. Chairs and other moveable furniture withĐastors should have at least 2 inĐŚes (5.01 Đm) Ňat rolling surfaĐe.
When furniture or Đh
airs have metaůĐaps, be sure to remove and use felt ŇŽor proƚĞĐƚŽƌs.
• Never push or drag heavy furniture or applianĐes aĐƌŽss theŇŽor; always use strips of wood or Masonite (hardboard) to
serve as a runway underneath the rollers or wheels (inĐůƵding dolly’s) to avoid damage to theŇŽor.
• Avoid prolonged exposure to direĐƚ sunlight as itĐanĐause swelling, and/or the surfĂĐĞƚo fade or disĐŽůor over Ɵŵe.
During peaŬ exposure Ɵmes to direĐƚ sunlight, we strongly reĐŽmmend the use of drapes
or blinds on windows and sliding
glass doors.
Maintenance
• Sweep, dust mop, or vĂĐuum regularly; please be aware that vĂĐuum beater barsĐan someƟmesĐause damage to the Ňoor.
• When neĐessary, damp mop theŇŽŽr with a standard no-wax vinyl Ňoor Đůeaner; do not use waxes or polishes as they will
inĐƌease the gloss level, turn yellow, deĐrease slip resistanĐe, or build up over Ɵŵe. This will turn your low-maintenanĐe
ŇŽor into a high maintenanĐeŇŽor.
• Wellmade does not reĐŽŵmend the
use of sƚĞĂŵĐůeaners on our vinyl Ňooring.
• ThisŇŽoring hasĞdžĐellent resistanĐe toĐommon household stains, and will not be aīeĐƚed by most household spills. Help
prevent stains by wiping up spills with aĐůean dampĐůoth immediately; the longer the stain sits, theŵŽƌĞůŝŬĞůLJ it will
Đƌeate a permanent stain.
• DiĸĐult spillsĐan be soaŬed for 5 – 15 minutes in a heavy duty vinyůĐůeaner or mineral spiritsĐĂƌĞfully sĐƌĂpe upĞdžĐess
with a dull ŬŶife, remove the rest of the residue with soŌ nylon pad or
soŌ
bristle brush, then rinse and wipe with aĐůean
whŝƚĞĐůŽth.
Repairs
^ĐƌĂtĐhesĐan easily be repaired by using sĐƌĂtĐh repair Ŭŝts designed for vinyl Ňooring, or by using aĐolored marŬer that will
blend the sĐƌĂtĐh into the rest of the planŬ. In the unůŝŬely event that a planŬ is damaged for whatever reason, the simplest
method is to disĐŽnneĐƚ the planŬsĐarefully (proƚĞĐƟng the tongue and groove edges) unƟů the damaged planŬ ĐĂn be removed.
Then replaĐe the damaged planŬ with a new one and re-assemble the disĐŽnneĐƚĞĚ planŬs. This typŝĐĂůůy worŬs for planŬ
s that
are ĐůŽse to the two long perimeters of a room. For damaged planŬs that are not ĐůŽse to the perimeter, you may have to
remove the damaged planŬs and insert new planŬƐ without removing enƟƌe rows, this is easily ĂĐhievable by following the
guideline below.
1. Using a uƟůŝƚy saw or equivalent,Đut out theĐĞŶter of the damaged planŬ and leave approximately a 1 - 2 inĐh strip
aƩaĐhed to the inner poƌƟon of the adjaĐent planŬs.
2. Carefully Đut bĂĐŬ from the four ĐŽƌners of the planŬ to the inside edges, this is the spĂĐĞůeŌ by theĐut out planŬ
3. Remove the planŬ edgesĐarefully from the adjaĐent planŬs maŬing
sure the tongues and grooves of the adjaĐent
planŬs are not damaged.
