Text messages

Text messages can be sent and received via the mobile telephone
system.
Received text messages can be displayed on the Infotainment touch
screen, or text messages can be read aloud via the audio system.
Text messages received by the mobile telephone system whilst
connected to a mobile telephone will not be stored in the memory
of the mobile telephone. To copy a text message to the mobile
telephone, it will be necessary to follow the procedure described
in ‘Copying a text message’ on page 9-23.
Note
Text message functions are not available when using a mobile telephone
connected using the hands-free profile.
Displaying a text message
To display a text message, proceed as follows:
1. Press the TEL control button.
2. Press the SMS function button. A pop-up window will open.
3. Press the Inbox function button. The text messages in the
displayed list are sorted according to status: read, unread and
the time that they were received. Press the desired text
message to display it.
When a text message is open, you can use the Options function
button to carry out other functions, e.g. Forward the text
message or Return Call to call the sender of the text message.
Sending a text message
To send a text message, proceed as follows:
1. Press the TEL control button.
2. Press the SMS function button. A pop-up window will open.
3. In the pop-up window press the Write function button.
4. Enter the text message using the onscreen keypad.
5. Press the function button to enter a telephone number or
select a recipient from a list, e.g. the telephone book.
6. Press the function button to send.
