5.7.10 Conﬁguring the COM Port

Upon power up, the COM port is conﬁgured to the default settings of

ENABLED and LM.

The COM port supports the following applications:

• Local Management connections

• American Power Conversion (APC) Uninterruptible Power Supply

(UPS) connections

To conﬁgure the COM port, proceed as follows:

1. Use the arrow keys to highlight the Com field.

NOTE

If the 2E4X-27 is set to 802.1Q SWITCHING, refer to your

Port Based VLAN User’s Guide

to conﬁgure the devices for this

type of operation.

If the 2E4X-27 is set to SECURE FAST VLAN, refer to your

SecureFast documentation set to conﬁgure the devices for this

type of operation.

CAUTION

Before altering the COM port settings, ensure that the 2E4X-27

is set with a valid IP address. (Refer to Section 5.7.1, Setting

the IP Address.) Read this entire COM port conﬁguration

section before changing the settings of the COM port.

Refer to the Release Notes included with the 2E4X-27 to verify

additional COM Port applications that may be supported.
